ASCII to PETSCII conversion, sure. which is what petcat does. Hence why i am asking (another question would be why it isnt a simple pc tool, afterall the chance of getting a ascii file on a c64 disk is pretty slim) | User Comment Submitted by BlackJack on 4 February 2022
So it seems it replaces the first two bytes by carriage returns regardless of what they are/were. And linefeeds are replaced by spaces, exclamation marks by points, colons by spaces, underscores by the visually similar PETSCII graphic character, and ASCII lower case by ASCII upper case.
Replacing the fist two bytes unconditionally and the "!" and ":" replacements are IMHO a bit buggy because they need to be addressed manually after conversion. ``petcat`` doesn't mess with those bytes.
Another major difference: ``petcat`` translates ASCII upper case into PETSCII 0xC1 to 0xDA as the kernel would do when entering those characters on the C64. | User Comment Submitted by Holy Moses on 2 February 2022
There´s more needed than changing your File into a SEQ Fileformat.
For e.g. there´re plenty of codes to check and fix first, otherwise it would fuck up your Turbo Ass quite fast.
But thanks for the *FLOWERS*... =) | User Comment Submitted by BlackJack on 2 February 2022
Or Gnylf V1.2 or any other PC text to PETSCII text converter on the C64. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 2 February 2022

Excellent idea for the oldschoolers :) I like it, and have added this tool to my utilities collection. |
