Quoting Wile CoyoteI generated extra colours using the PAL mix method with The Famous Mêlée Island
My results resulted in a clearer image compared to Tobias effort.
^_^
I don't think his goals were the same as yours, though. From what he wrote, Tobias wanted to use only 2 colours to make a 6 colour picture that was recognisable as Mêlée Island on a PAL C64 + CRT combo. And I think he achieved exactly what he set out to do. | User Comment Submitted by Wile Coyote on 21 March 2023

The author writes:
"This is an example that by using just 2 colors, you can generate additional colors on PAL machines.
The file's screenshot only contains the colors blue and brown, mostly in alternating lines. It's hard to see anything, right?
Using colors of the same luminance will generate perfectly mixed (additonal) colors. Again: only with PAL, not NTSC.
The same color on the C64 has slighty different hues, depending if it is an odd or even line.
It means that when you change the order of the alternating lines, you get two slightly different mix colors.
Blue and brown will generate a dark grey mix. One being a bit more "purple" than the other.
4 colors out of just 2. Additionally, there is some interference between the areas. Producing some special effect with green and purple.6 colors in total.
Only by this effect, you can finally recognize our beloved Mêlée Island.
Try it out! :) Best viewed on real C64 and CRT."
