TCLOAD allows calls to the C64’s built-in load process to access a Tapecart SD cartridge as a standard I/O device from the BASIC environment or from a Machine Language program. It uses a simple “wedge” to alter the LOAD command vectors ($0330-$0331) and take over from the KERNAL process. By default, all file loads specifying device numbers 11 and under will attempt to load from the Tapecart, but it can also be limited to a specified device number.

TCLOAD will load any recognised PRG, SID, or TCRT file, and allows for some multi-part loading. It also allows for navigation of directories on the SD card inserted into the Tapecart, and a directory can be listed using the LOAD"$" command in the normal way.

Currently, TCLOAD allows only for loading of SD card files. As yet, the standard API for Tapecart SD does not allow for writing of files (except within a TCRT bundle), although I believe this should be possible. If an API is made available, a future version of TCLOAD could could also include a SAVE command replacement.
