NoRi: What makes you think mods would censor your comment? That is the interesting question.

"Please notice that the book is pretty different from the later produced movie. The character in the book is just called Rambo, no first name mentioned in the book. The book takes place in Madison/Kentucky while the movie is located in Hope/Washington, but most of all: Rambo dies at the end of the book, while he survives the film. Strange, isn't it?""

Not strange, predictable I'd say, this is film adapation. The aim of a movie produced in Hollywood is to make the most money out of it, so it needs to please the customers first, and customers hate seeing the hero die at the end. There's a lot more differences between novel and film (as far as I remember, Rambo escape from jail totally naked on the cycle), Rambo kills one by one every pursuers, the chief sheriff dies also at the end. Of course compared to film, the most interesting is the morality of novel, darker, different and far better than the movie I think.
As luck would have it, there's an article (amongst others) already written about First Blood, the novel in a diskmag.

-> I wonder how long my comment would stay before being deleted by moderators ?
