Yeah, it's sometimes useful to see all the releases featuring someone's work .. even the dupes and rips - if only to see how "popular" these things were (Hubbard and such would be used in 100s of demos per tune). But it messes up those people's CSDb pages, really. Eg. Drax <-- it's clear his tunes are popular. But how do we see the releases that he's targeted his tunes at..? The ones he's given permission to use his tunes?

I know we have DeepSID and C64GFX now ... and similar sites .. but CSDb could benefit from seeing releases where each person sanctioned the release. "Released By" isn't it.

I like how the non existing rules and idiotic "common sense" applied to giving credits instead now implies that STE worked at both of these releases - very useful!

Sadly was a very common thing.

I ripped music from games in my teen years, and probably didn't write the credit.. but I don't believe I ever ripped a picture and changed the signature.

I found another of these, for this exact same pic, here: Karate Kid Picture

I'm finding them because I'm trying to remove all these rips and duplicates from C64GFX so that we just feature the "original" pic as best as possible: https://c64gfx.com/artist/4280

Don't quite understand that one. It was only worth doing stuff if you stole other peoples stuff? You did your own gfx didn't you? It seems so from looking at your page on here.

*Edit*
Ok, Ste informs me I've probably read that wrong and you're actually saying if prods you make weren't ripped off by other groups it meant they weren't great prods.. which makes more sense :)

Sweet Jesus, we were teenage software pirates. If you made something and it WASN'T ripped off it wasn't worth making to begin with. Stolen routines, stolen music, stolen gfx... This was a FACT in the 80s scene.

hu ? it was my first group, ie my beginner group. how hard to understand is that and how is that history revision? *shrug*
(just looked over the list of releases, and infact i cant agree with the "stole a lot of stuff" part anymore. what are you referring to exactly? =P)

1988 was the "beginning"? You can't be serious.

Cripes. Everyone is into revisionist history tonight.

"Your little ICE group stole a LOT of stuff."
sure. everyone did in the beginning. and no doubt that group can be classified as "local lamers" - like most peoples beginner groups :=)

I'm not sure I like what you are implying, Groepaz. Your little ICE group stole a LOT of stuff.

"Well i don't know how you used to operate mate, but we had "rules" of operation over here. One of which was that You don't try to pass off somebody elses stuff from the scene as your own."
sure thing. still csdb is about documenting the entire scene, even the lamers that broke said rules.

STE- You do realize that we were SOFTWARE PIRATES, right? And for the most part, this is a database of software pirates from the 1980-1990s era?

And you are complaining about fair use 20+ years after the fact?

Really?

I'm not sure they actually tried to give the impression they painted this, rather tagging it with the group's abbreviation. I agree though that removing the author's signature is utterly lame.

its a graphics rip when they use the pic WITH the name in a DEMO without permission. it is most certainly NOT a fcking graphics rip when they replace my name and it appears in the GRAPHICS section of this database.

Seen plenty of graphics "rips" before but taking the artists name off and replacing it with a different one is a rip-off, different thing, trying to pass someone else's work off as their own. lame.

It's just a graphics rip, quite common & nothing to get upset about really. :)
