Very nice release! Yet, I don't understand the level "At the harbour", how does that work? And how does the scoring work? I don't get it...

isn't cracking a game just bypassing the copy protection so we can play it for free?

By recompacting it, training it, loader installing it. Cracking is more than just removing copy-protections, although "intro-linking" or "releasing" would be the correct term in this case.
