Nope, it was not emulators causing this problem. If the hiscore were missing there was garbage in the memory from where it should show the hiscore and then it would crash.
This happend because the hi-score were missing in the original upload. |

Crashed if you pressed 2 for hi-score. This happend because there was no hi-score file to this release.
Added the hiscore file to the d64 and reuploaded it. |
