Shake: Actually I created the picture as follows:

1) Sketching/outlines using a set of photographs as a reference of these bugs

2) After outlines were created and finished in Timanthes (using tablet) I planted areas of colors to approximately where they belong

3) I did a dithering-round with mouse around the between colors

4) Squinted eyes and/or zoomed out and checked the reference photographs how certain parts should look like and then dithered using mouse to achieve those things.

5) Rince and repeat step 4. until I got bored enough. Dithering is quite addicting sometimes. =)
