Summary

From the README:

A6 v0.4.4 (Caleb), (C) Simon Collis 1997-2001

The A6 philosophy is simple: to produce a cross-assembler that assembles 6502
code efficiently and quickly, while retaining the syntax from the familiar
"Laser Genius" assembler for the Commodore 64, as well as grafting in some of
the command set from "Turbo Assembler".

Many Turbo Assembler users have said to me that they won't use A6 because it
doesn't use the Turbo Assembler syntax. However, the syntax of both assemblers
is very similar, and I suspect that they both emulate an older assembler, quite
possibly that used on the PDP-11.

A6 is intended be a command-line driven assembler, with CPU and output file
format definitions being loadable from table files. Most of A6 is very
definetly work in progress, meaning that some of the C code is, to be frank,
quite dreadful.

For this version of A6 I have gone down the route of using kdevelop
for all of the coding. This means (hopefully) that most of the time compiling
and running it under Unices should be a snap. Now all I need to do is to get
the DOS side sorted out, ho HUM!
