Executable Image release 2 (I Wish I Never Have To Go To Wolverhampton Again)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Executable Image is a perversely over-engineered solution to a very simple
problem: how do I convert a C64 image into an executable program? It has been
pointed out, with some validity, that the time honored tradition of trying to
find a coder that's sober enough to remember how to start Turbo Assembler
fifteen minutes before the compo deadline is a preferable solution that has
the potential of leading to all sorts of interesting cooperation in the
future. Only now the coders can tell the graphicians to go fuck themselves,
grab another beer, and keep arguing about which raster stabilization
technique is the best.

Anyway, it started out pretty small, as most applications do, and only
converted Koala files. Unfortunately I had to spend a week in Wolverhampton,
and quickly grew tired of standing outside in the rain watching chavs. A few
more file formats were quickly added, and we've started our journey down the
slippery path that inevitably ends with user configurable xml format spec
files, a full blown plug-in architecture, and a 200 MB installer that
includes the .NET runtime. We're thankfully not there just yet, and usage of
the current release is limited to:

xi [-dhqv] [-b color] [-c compressor] [-f format] infile [outfile]

d : debug output
h : print this help message
q : quiet output
v : verbose output

b color : set border color
c compressor : select compressor
none Don't compress, just add a basic SYS line
lzss Built in LZSS compressor (default)
pucrunch Use external pucrunch binary
exomizer Use external exomizer binary
f format : force image format, where format is one of:
amica Amica Paint
artstudio Art Studio
doodle Doodle
flidesigner1 FLI Designer 1
flidesigner2 FLI Designer 2
fligraph FLI Graph
koala Koala Painter

To at least make it appear simple, if you just give it an image file it'll
sprinkle some magic dust on it and try to figure out just what kind it is all
by itself, and it'll even replace the file extension with .prg for you. I
fully expect this to crash horribly, erase your collection of "fine art"
movies, and shave your cat. Poor kitty.
