Summary
Submitted by NecroPolo on 23 March 2010
This small demo is some kind of tribute to HAL9000, the cold and psycho-rational computer from Space Odyssey movie series. For some reason, when it comes to space travel the first thing that comes to my mind is the cold 'face' of HAL, saying "sorry Dave I can't do that". Just like Windows, eh? :)

I had the idea of what is should be so I started coding this one but I stuck. During discussion of his race game project music with LHS, he offered his coding help in some small productions that I gladly accepted and as far as I can remember, he sent back the whole working stuff the next day or so, with a brand new code and rather brilliant solutions that lifted the whole project on an another level.

The tune is a cover of a track with the same title from my A.P.I. mate naaina's experimental album, if you like this SID you must check the original as well:

http://www.myspace.com/localmindprovider

Originally, its 1st version was created in the summer of 2009 when we checked each other's projects. After listening to naaina's "Local Mind Provider" project album, I found this tune, packed with a quite interesting beat and melody so I did the SID conversion and we put it in the box for a future release that was not defined at the time.

Considering the final version of the tune, it was re-created, optimised and packed in 2010 with GMC2.0 that is under development by Fenek and Wackee of Arise. GMC2.0 is based on Brian's 1990 GMC1 code - my main weapon of choice. After releasing some 2009 tunes with GMC1.6, we started a discussion with Wackee who is also a die-hard GMC user and I was quite surprised and happy of that after almost 20 years Fenek is still developing this super-raw sonic tool. Wackee invited me for a test drive of the greatly improved 2.0 version - there is the outcome.

Thanks to:

- LHS for his brilliant and super-precise coding

- Wackee and Fenek for improving this old sonic brewtaliser with so many awesome and efficient upgrades - huge thanks for the testing opportuity, mates!

- naaina for composing this superb song

- Hermit for the help in understanding the C64 more
