Just a quick note: I have uploaded a minor revision again (2c) mostly to fix a nasty bug (details in the production notes). | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 16 June 2010
@Hoild
Yeah, as said the gameplay is meant to be a little richer than it is now - I just don't know when it will happen.
As regards level design, well, levels are generated procedurally and that's not going to change.
Thanks for the encouragement! | User Comment Submitted by Hoild on 28 April 2010
Add level design and game design that matches the nice visuals, and you have a truly remarkable C64 game. Best Luck! | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 28 April 2010
@all
I've just replaced the old version (preview 2) with the fixed one (preview 2a).
Since the change has been very minimal (moving a variable assignment from one place to another), I decided not to make a separate release.

@iceout
Thanks a lot :)
@all
A friend of mine today reported a bug: the difficulty after the first game does not get reset properly - in fact, a variable was initialized in the wrong place. Tomorrow I'll release the fixed version.
Sorry for the inconvenience! | User Comment Submitted by iceout on 27 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by saimo on 26 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by Stinky on 26 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by saimo on 24 April 2010
Yes, Jailbird... and thanks again :) | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 24 April 2010
Like I already said on the corresponding forum topic, I really dig the cute graphics but the gameplay would definitely need a bit of improvement.
Keep up the nice work mate. | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 24 April 2010
Deev, you're right, the gameplay is nothing groundbreaking: for now, it's quite simple, although it might provide some fun (especially when it becomes challenging - say, above level 20). There are ideas to make it richer and who knows if some day they'll materialize ;) | User Comment Submitted by Deev on 24 April 2010
yes, very nice work with the graphics and Richard's tune works pretty well too. Not sure about the gameplay! | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 23 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by Sander on 23 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by saimo on 23 April 2010
Level 20... it's a pleasure to see people playing it that far :) | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 23 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by saimo on 23 April 2010
Glad you like the graphics so much! And, yes, the tunes are great (I especially love the title screen one): Richard certainly did a wonderful job :)
As for sound effects, I'd like to have them as well and they're at the top of the TODO list ;) | User Comment Submitted by Jostein Topland on 23 April 2010
What cute graphics! 10/10 And sweet music also. How about some sfx as well? | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 22 April 2010
Leon, just think that the idea is even more idiot than it seems, but it can only be fully appreciated when the missing gameplay part will be in place ;)
Thanks for the high mark :) | User Comment Submitted by leonofsgr on 22 April 2010
idiot idea, BUT very-very cool game! nice hi-res gfx! 9/10 | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 22 April 2010
Sorry, then! I wrongly assumed the title had been mistaken for something else. My bad.
Well, anyway, I don't know what Manky is, so, no, HIE is totally unrelated to it. | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 22 April 2010
thx, I 'know' latin ;-)
Hence my wondering if a Manky-part is planned :) | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 22 April 2010
@skull
Thank you!
@enthusi
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
"Hoc init exit", despite its techie sound, is Latin for "what(ever) gets in, gets out". It's a joke between me and some friends, which, unfortunately, would be way too long to explain :p | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 22 April 2010
looks (and plays even) fun indeed.
I like the pig animation. Sure looks wild :)
Multiplexer in compiled basic? Eeek :)
Curious about the title: HOC INIT EXIT - is it a prequel to Manky? | User Comment Submitted by skull on 22 April 2010
hiresfull and colorfull - nice! | User Comment Submitted by saimo on 22 April 2010
@Cobra/Samar
Unfortunately, I can't say when I'll be able to resume development - preparing this release already took me more than I initially thought, as I got carried away and added more stuff than planned...
@Algarbi
Thanks :) | User Comment Submitted by Cobra/Samar on 22 April 2010 User Comment Submitted by Iapetus/Algarbi/Wood on 22 April 2010
Super cool saimo! Keep up the good work. |
