Another nice thing to have would be something like a small shell, with commands for various operations, copy, move, list, display files, etc. Flexible and powerful, the command line kind of way.

This is free, unlike Apple stuff. It seems many people need a utility like this, so please keep up.

It would be good to utilise 80 column mode :)
http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/c64/utilities/80columns...

or one of the Soci's non-standard (4x8, 5x8 and 6x8) modes (see http://singularcrew.hu/vi65/)

Very nice. But isn't there a way to squeeze in the full Filename and still have all the info present... maybe different colour of the entry for different type and only 3 chars for filesize? I think it is doable. :)

Most commercial development is handled this way ... beta tests for games, half finished apps released and patched, etc. Nothing new really ...

Jan, it's the way Apple works: release a shitty half-assed product and see what people complain about, add that and be Teh King.

... and why must everyone comply with your idea of development? Rarely is a program finished when released.

Whats wrong with the sound principle of actually finishing a program before releasing it ? another version another day with more features, and bugs fixed... why not work for 8 months on it, until its finished, and then release it ?.... geez...
