Who said there was nothing left to crack? A true killer job, making the buggy Legend version obsolete for good.
I second iAN CooG: If it would not have been said, I prolly wouldn't have noticed some sprite animations missing without REU. And like many others nowadays, I got a 1541U which can emulate REU (next to my original REU, which seems to be a bit fucked up though). Well, 1541U can also emulate the original cart (which I also own), but neither of these can save the scores! ;-)
If the game would not just be so hard to play, and I'm not a bad player. | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 14 May 2010
How much can a game be reworked before it's not a crack but a remake? :-) | User Comment Submitted by Slator on 14 May 2010
Chapeau Chapeau! Jani, pretty well done.
Loving it, keep up the great work | User Comment Submitted by vedos on 13 May 2010
Thanks Groepaz! There's two different versions of Track & Field (older and newer release). I wonder which one that is. I gotta check it out.
But I still want the "jewel" version of the new version of the Track & Field from N0S or Remember! I have a hazy memory that years ago I talked to Jack Alien he mentioned there are some bugs in game that need fixing. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 12 May 2010
you have my deep respect. | User Comment Submitted by Jucke on 12 May 2010
Nice crack! Finally the monkey can rest. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 12 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by daison on 12 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by vedos on 12 May 2010
I neighter usually don't comment cracks, but this is some serious quality crack here! Another one from N0S was Marble Madness Marble Madness +3DHRJ with all the additions. S!R seems to be "the" golden oldies cracker at moment. Big up from me, straight 10! I don't even play game like Toki, but I can feel the quality oozing in this release!
But most close to my heart is International Karate+ GOLD with nice nice improvements because it's a game I play! :)
Others nice stuff that comes to my mind are:
TNT's Paradroid Redux (http://www.sid.fi/~tnt/c64/paradroid/redux.html)
Onslaught's Maniac Mansion GOLD [neoram]
MagerValp's Gold versions of Ultima's
Now someone arrange S!R a original cassette/floppy (I wonder if there's any difference in them) of Track & Field and I WOULD BE VERY VERY VERY HAPPY! I even wrote about getting a "jewel" version of it in my lame blog sometime ago: http://vedos-sixtyfour.blogspot.com/2010/03/jewel-games-games-g..
It'd be nice to have it with highscore saver and maybe with lots of trainers and eg. levelskip (which of course would be disabled when highscore saver is enabled). | User Comment Submitted by Archmage on 12 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by Jazzcat on 11 May 2010
Finally it's here! Superb! | User Comment Submitted by Ksubi on 11 May 2010
Nice work! I had the feeling this was in the pipeline after a comment on here about the other version not being NTSC fixed :-). Impressive work 10/10! | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 11 May 2010
I was almost speechless seeing this release =)
Even not using the REU it's hardly noticeable the lack of some sprite animations. This is way beyond cracking, it's almost a complete rewrite. | User Comment Submitted by Medicus on 11 May 2010
MUSIC! Toki became playable. Which animations where left out in the non-REU version? Everything looks quite animated to me :). | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 11 May 2010
excellent release. one of the few games that really needed a fresh crack. cool to read how much work went into it.
2 minor things, or this would've been uber perfect:
1. no collision cheat? wtf?!
2. reu required for total 100% of the game.
still, very very good work guys. I take my hat off to you | User Comment Submitted by Tom-Cat on 11 May 2010
Great... but again no Kernal loader... :( | User Comment Submitted by Moloch on 11 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by The Overkiller on 11 May 2010
Heh! I expected this one from N0S, thumbs up!!! | User Comment Submitted by Count Zero on 11 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by Wile Coyote on 11 May 2010 User Comment Submitted by NecroPolo on 11 May 2010
Wooooo it's raining quality cracks these days :)
Awesome stuff. The intro is killer. Hats off! | User Comment Submitted by Radiant on 11 May 2010
I usually don't comment on cracks, but wow, this is a feat! | User Comment Submitted by Twoflower on 11 May 2010
Wow! Oceans "uncrackable" cart is finally beaten - without excluding music or sfx and with a good loader. A stunning release, only comparable to the cart-version of Double Dragon, 6r6 cracked some years ago. |
