Seriously impressive port, and yes - it does also show there's still plenty of scope for broadening the design space of what we see from new productions.

Nice work all!

So let me chime in and offer some clarity:

- Hungary is still in Europe, no matter how hard we try against that :)
- I had a conversation with Visage a few months ago where he asked for permission about converting "a" demo, but not specifically naming which one. I had a pretty good guess which one though, so it wasn't a HUGE surprise.
- As a consequence, no source assets were provided to Lethargy - I would imagine all of it was created from scratch just based on the video of the original.
- I am very happy that this exists, because I was never proud with the original one (I always felt like I wasn't the right person to do that, it clearly would've needed someone with more motion graphics skill) but on the C64 just the platform alone validates its existence.

It also showed me that there is this huge market vacuum for people to more "modern" feeling C64 demos that don't take the existing C64 traditions into account and instead do something that's more based on modern design and motion graphics - basically what Sander has been doing for years. :)

Thanks for the comparison - i was wondering myself how similar those two are.

That said, i dig the result. A lot of C64 Demos are seriously lacking in the sync department, so thumbs ups for that. Even if its not super original :)

@Vincenzo
seeing this side by siad I can say even more - Wow!
Congrats guys! I can imagine Gargaj's face while this was on.

@Joe
For me this is the essence of demoscene. Code + music + visuals in this case is more than just 1+1+1.
For me there is creativity in adapting this demo to c64 - no doubt.

and btw: [...]We in Europe[...]
is a bit too far IMO!

@Joe, I think you're being a bit too strict here now - Lethargy has proven their imagination and originality many times before. I'm enjoying this cool C64 version very much!

We do demos in different ways, you took your from the PC. We in Europe think about origin and walk the line of that artistic tradition.

" just ported demos " sounds like it's some easy shit to do.
I praise the courage, effort and the dedication in doing it instead.

So hope next demo is C64 true real original stuff!

We can say, that this is the port of a PC demo for C64, and this was a surprise for the HU scene on Function.
So @Joe. The original concept belongs to Gargaj, thus to a PC demo, and there was no correlation, it was a surprise for him as well on the party.
With remaking this demo on C64, we challenged only ourselves (and our coding capabilities) and don’t worry, there will still be a lot of original content on the C64.

Well be good to know, so this is not just some "Desert Dream" project again.
Would kill my heart really thinking what the C64 scene would have to give if people just ported demos.

Gargaj was involved in the PC demo at least

Just a question which raised since I saw this was actually originally a Windows demo.
Is there any correlation between involved members/groups or is this just a c64 port?

Ohhhh - I too missed the fact that it’s a C64 version of an existing PC demo. Still very impressive!

I'm definitely seeing a slice of Logicoma-esque style here, and that's a very good thing! A fabulous and wildly original production from one of my favourite groups.

Logicoma and h0ffman are strong with this one! :D But, seriously, what a fresh and fantastic production! Definite MTV award for video directing <3

Just be careful with that Samar logo, mind you. LOLz! ;)

And totally no problem with flip disk - you guys are just getting old and not that bright anymore about subtle hints ;)

Supercool design. I felt that you were trying to squeeze a PC demo into a C64. A lot of great a ideas in there. Yeah, the turn disk also had my baffled for a second. Congrats on a great release.

I can't get it to load in either VICE X64sc 3.2, GTK VICE 3.5 or Hoxs 1.105, track 18 spinning forever after the grey bar fills completely.
