@JA: Why didn't you just try that yourself, instead of embarresing yourself this way ;). No, really.. I have tried, and it doesn't work. Only without the d016-shifting it looks better, but then you don't get the impression of *small* pixels :(.

Awesome picture Pawel, you rule. We all know it's a copy, but it still f**kn rules!!

What annoys me is that even if the flicker is low it could have been done better. Most IFLI graphicians seems to love 50% 2x2 ordered dithering patterns:

1010
0101
1010
0101

Unfortunately this yields the following two (highly flickering) fields:

1111 0000
0000 1111
1111 0000
0000 1111

A better approach would to use the following dither pattern:

1001
0110
1001
0110

Giving the following two fields:

1100 0011
0011 1100
1100 0011
0011 1100

I seriously think that would look less flickery.

Amazing picture! You never even think that this is only 320x200 with 16 colors. Great color usage, much details and interlace used in a sensible way that the flickering is not too apparent. One of the finest C64 pictures ever!
