4gentE: eh, out-of-theme is my guess (the one for Xenium this year was "folk", like what was on exhibit in the stellar Cepelia demo). Plus it was a remote entry, and those actually attending the parties in person usually do a lot better in the compos.

@4gentE: Looking at higher other ranked pictures makes it crystal clear: Not enough cock in it ;)

Seriously, UpperCase ROM _is_ PETSCII imho, just not a very popular pick, the more I respect and upvote this one :)

I still don’t understand how come this didn’t fare better in the compo.

...Sheesh.

Oh well, at least we all now know my last-place finish in the Xenium PETSCII compo was entirely legitimate. :D

…and that’s why one should always code his/her own displayer. It’s two writes for bg/fg, then one unified loop (250x4 values) for putting 1000 values in screen RAM and another 1000 values in color RAM. A hamster can do it.

The displayer includes a "custom" charset but it's the same as lower/upper standard charset. You can type in monitor
> d018 16
to set the normal low/hi charset and see that nothing changes.

Just a weird and useless setup of the displayer but no tricks like redefined chars or bitmap mode or anything sus got used.

Upper and lowercase characters in the same image

lowercase mode includes uppercase characters :)

Nope, this only uses the lowercase character set -- I'm not that clever.

Just uploaded an SEQ file, the art comes in verbatim both in Sequenzer and on RapidFire BBS.

Upper and lowercase characters in the same image--I thought it was PETSCII but for that! Good artwork, tho!

Really cool swollen shapes. Frankenstein looks a bit pale, but it’s his season coming up after the harvest ;D
