I remember I got the crack from Mao (R.I.P.) and I played that game back in the days. As spreader I didn't get any complains about sumthing not working.
hey, cool intro btw.. :)

generally when it works in hoxs and not in vice, you should:
- reset to default settings
- when it still doesnt work, try with model=C64
- when it still doesnt work, invert the RAM init pattern
- when it still doesnt work, not use autostart but load the problem manually
(try any combination of the above)

you'll have a hard time finding anything that works in hoxs but not x64sc

It would be nice to know if it really bugs on real HW with old CIA aswell, for science. Anyway now if someone finds it not working with VICE, can know there is a simple workaround adjusting settings.

whatever you say, but if i rename my vice.ini, so i start vice with defaults, change to OLD CIA both 1&2, the loading after player selection hangs again at track 20.

works fine in that rev too - its your settings :)

found the difference: in vice.ini, i had
[C64SC]
CIA1Model=0
CIA2Model=0
this is enough to make the loader fail.
=1 to both, works, also in x64.exe

Verified working and loads normally in ccs64 3.x and hoxs64
Something for the viceteam to investigate.

crashes on VICE 3.2 as described, after player selection, loading starts but gets stuck on track 20.

The first 2 out of 2 bad ones i have found starting off with f4cg don't seem to be bad at all and i am beginning to think they are emulator based and not bad files.
Makes me wonder what percentage of bad ones are actually bad files on csdb and it turns out it's just the old versions of the emulator's itself whats causing the problem.
