I really like this one. it's very "pop art" and captures the style of the era well.

I think i like it even more because its hard edged and at odds with mermaids usual "curvy" style.

I do think that it needs something in that left shoulder area gap to tie the images together. a couple stylised versions of those long streaky stars from the 1st book cover perhaps.

I think DeeKay means the ones under the helmet, not the ones under the rocket...

In my mind they work as speed elements that actually creates the illusion of the ship moving upwards! They add the needed action in a way... And the shape down left do form a body, shoulder part... hmm...

wow, i really love how vanja managed to capture the essence and style of soviet propaganda posters and still add her own hires-style to it (which i just know Sander will cherish, since it is the embracing of the limits he loves so much! ;-). The only issue is the drippy parts at the bottom (or are these light reflexes? Why only downwards then?) and the triangular shape on the bottom left. Or don't I just see something obvious here? <:-)

It is slightly PETSCII-ish, somewhat CGA-ish, and I like it.

Like it! Must be hard if you can only use 2 colours per character. I always thought Go West by Village People and then by Pet Shop Boys sounds a bit like the Russian anthem. Maybe it inspired them!

Great Soviet propaganda poster style. You did well for Mother Russia, comrade Mermaid. :)

It's a bit more cubic than what I got used to in your other hireses, but I'm sure it was intended to be so to fit the theme.
10/10 for the actuality and the excellence. I always get the inspiration to paint in hires whenever I see your works.
Keep up :)

@PAL: Noooo, I cannot believe you deleted it. Hope that this is a joke and I'll see some more release for the anniversary...
(Or else we should ask for a new CSDB release type called 'Unreleased demo' :} - where you don't upload the stuff just describe how it should have looked like...)

WOW... This time I would say that its typical Mermaid style.... just plain awesomeness... Love your work Vanja... Fuck, now I just have to delete my Yuri Gagarin tribute demo that I wanted to release today... We are even now you dirty bastard you... you... ohhhrrrgghhh!

Delete... done! Never to be seen again... hmmm... all day long I worked, but now it is too late...

I voted 10/10 for it
