Release id #199408 : Risky Holding +TGD
Quoting Smasher at https://csdb.dk/forums/?roomid=12&topicid=147847#148167: "what about a LXT+AOD coop? make love not war :)"
Six (2021-03-04 21:26):
The first hurdle there (aside from the way those guys generally behave) would be that AOD isn't interested in releasing compiled BASIC all-text games like:
Invest and Win +TGD
and
Risky Holding +TGD
No thanks -- and if I ever find myself feeling the urge to zero out the sys line on an original in an attempt to hide that it's compiled BASIC, I'll retire.
Didi (2021-03-04 22:36):
Those were released because they were lost games. Nothing to hide there. Just no need to keep sys-lines and waste space.
Ian Coog (2021-03-04 22:45):
I also think it's just a good habit to clean up useless bytes to achieve better compression. You can't seriously think that in 2021 someone can try to hide which compiler or cruncher is used by changing or hiding a sysline, you know exactly which tools to use. Right? ;)
Goat (2021-03-05 20:52):
In the past, commercial games were always counted even if they were made in other languages. I remember, "Pirates!" being mainly BASIC, "Grey seas, grey skies" (by HF) being BASIC, "The Guardian" (by Motiv8) being compiled BASIC, and some others. These still have points in the list.
Commercial games were sold and therefore needed cracks to be spread. It didn't matter which programming language was behind.
What about other languages like Forth, Pascal, C... there have also been commercial games written in these languages. Not BASIC, but also not machine code. |

Goat: Lovely. Then we have a future flood of commercal games made in basic coming up? Lovely. Really. We released a fair share of the best BASIC games we found, sure, but never did it for points (Ripper! &D &Map, Akalabeth: World of Doom +4 [compiled], Assembloids Basic V2.0 [compiled], Fallen +2D [compiled] etc.) But quality can't be said about these finds. They should just be sent to GB64 directly. |

^ Pirate with attitude
I'd sell my mother for a smashing firstie gaining 100 points! Prolly a problem with a general definition of morale.
Just make sure its not some BASIC crap on which one would have to add docs, maps, disk/cover+manual scans, a group-coded game intro with graphics by STE and music by Metal to turn some 20 compiled lines into something spreadable. (Let's just include any compiler language as I have seen a deal of C, Pascal and even Logo in the wild already.) |
