A CDTV clone? Or something else? Any idea?

Nope, it's just an ARM-based system with an emulator... It's being produced because they couldn't make the funds for the full-size "THE64" and the "THE64 Handheld".

The handhelds have be postponed indefinitely (unlucky for the backers of that product, they get to choose to wait forever, or get a different product).

It's also from two of the guys who were involved with the Speccy VEGA+, and there's been a whole mess between them and the remaining VEGA+ team.

Here's a topic on the original setup

Honestly I don't get the big fuzz. The firmware doesn't allow full compability of double-sided discimages,
none functional (both+revisions) sids, etc.
It's in my eyes not a finished product.

I'd say the emulator and the real HW still stands the game. This.. well is for children... And it's kinda neat.
And I still don't understand why they didn't choose the best joystick ever, Suncom Tac-II instead of that retard joy.
I bet it has those sucking cups to stay safe on the table,
we used to have a saying about those: It's for kids with velcro shoes.

Has anyone managed to run a demo (i.e. trackmo) on it?

Afaik it's an Allwinner A20 SoC (Dual-Core 1GHz Cortex-A7) running VICE. I'm unsure if it's x64 or x64sc, and which version it's based on, but x64 v3.1 seems like a safe guess.
