photos of computer setups

I have started collecting photos of "8-bit" computer set ups. I think it is fascinating to see the places where all kinds of computer magic happens/happened. I am mostly interested in home settings - rooms from any time and any place. Demoscene relation is good but not necessary, hi-res photos are preferred (with credits), informative texts and and stories is excellent.

Possibly, this is something that would be published aswell.
With a collection like this it is possible to see what was behind all those screen, to contextualize digital works with a physical place. Postdigital, as the theorists say. We wanna see your data office!

Ok, here's some of my corners in the current form.

First there's living room which is Commodore-free area at the moment. Along with several AV gadgets there's PS2 (Matrix Infinity + 160 Gb HD) and GameCube for gaming. I know, those speakers are complete joke but I haven't managed to save enough money to buy decent audio equipment yet.

This is one part of our so-called workroom, that's the corner where I'm sitting while typing this...

...and this is where the REAL hardware lies. Breadbox is my first one from mid-80's, nowadays equipped with 1541U, 1541, 1581 and custom PSU by Doc of Desire. Amiga is stock A500 with memory expansion, Amstrad CPC6128 is waiting for SymbiFace II IDE interface to use with IDE2CF adapter. Mini laptop is mainly for quick internet visits when wife happens to conquer the desktop PC.

Rest of my Commodore stuff, spares and such, are all lying into this very well organized storage room (known also as Graveyard Of Dead Home Electronics): Heaps of different C64 models, C128, C128D, SX-64, few VIC-20's and C16's, manuals, magazines, disk drives, bag full of datassettes... all along with other not Commodore-related shit like couple of 21" CRT monitors and ~60 kg pile of dead betamax vcr's, to mention some...

I paid a visit to my parents place during holidy, and found a few photos that show at least some fragment of some computer setup. Not that impressive, but I'll scan it anyway the other day. In the meantime, here comes a photo of my current setup, starring Goto80, who was visiting me, and on this picture he is currently creating his compo winner tune from LCP 2009:

As you can see, some things have stabilized in the ways that I tend to put up my datacorners now. If you compare with the last photo in my current post, you'll see that the big TV is the same, and the way I am placing a C64 on top of the A500 (and a 1541-II on top of the A500 Harddrive interface) is also the same as in the previous physical location (to be able to fit two setups at the same place). So.. the configuration survives the physical location, it seems. On the other hand, the desk is also the same, so I guess you could say that it is in fact the same "place"... blah blah blah.

Since the 2008 photo in my previuos post, the PC's have also given way for Mac machines instead. Best move in a long time!

Since this photo was taken, I have also added a nice set of Digidrums (Yamaha DTXPLORER), which is now standing right to the left of this desk. Yahoo! (I also got one of those ZOOM G2 effect boxes veeeery cheap.) Gotta connect those digidrums to C64, through MIDI, some day, and do some C64 drumming.

here are my setups...

this is my main pc. the c64 is equipped with an ide64, connected via ide serv and a tv capture card.
the notebook (lenovo x60 tablet) beneath the competition pro is the machine i generally prefer for pixelling.

those two pieces are the latest aquirements. at the moment there is only a compact flash in use,
a dvdr- and 1541-2-drive are prepared, but the desk needs to be lifted up previously.
btw the damn awesome lasered glasscube was organized by bugjam.
