FLI Pixelling advice

Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble in finishing off my FLI logo .. My first attempt at any graphic really... The fli has been painted under Project1. I used a tablet for the inital outline and then started a standard colour bar.

The file is located here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1jb91xx3l9j

My problem is I can't seem to work out how to do the edge(s) of the logo and am looking for any advice on how to proceed forward.

Best to you all.

Wozza.

not everyone has p1, you should save it in png so more people can check it out ;)

I'd suggest to drop the fillings and try something different with it, perhaps give it the same, or opposite, dynamics of the outlines. I think you should not stick to such strict gradients, look at the intro logo of Favorites 2 for example, a different approach. But i must admit, i'm no FLI expert.

I think working on how the colours mixed was a good start, and there are most probably lots of methods to acheive how those colours blend - working the best method and how to apply them is my problem. Thanks for the link, (what a great logo) if anyone has a good FLI logo colour scheme/design etc please post a link.
cheers.

Nice start on that logo. My advice would probably to concentrate on the shapes, perhaps let the outlines enter the filling a little to help up the shapes. For smoothening / antialiasing the edges, simply use the colors available from the filling. A good (and very old) example which springs to mind is Oxidy's wildstylelogo from Stupidity II - you'll know the part when you see it.

Mind to check out the luminances of the colors in the palette and to choose a good palette to work with. Check out Ptoings example.

Oh, this might come handy too!

What I find, after pixelling in FLI for a while, is that it is a format that makes most coders go booo. I've therefore started to do straightforward Koala stuff instead. If you want your logo in a demo, you should consider doing the same. Do an experimental convert to Koala in P1, and take a look at what you are left with. In most cases the loss of the fourth colour can easily be worked around by some cross pixel dithering. It looks cleaner too.

Speaking of your logo specifically, it is very fill-based. Maybe too much so. Drop the fillings and try to do a solid logo based on your outlines instead. In this particular case I would rework the outlines a little bit, and then perhaps try to shade the logo so that the letters go darker the further they are away from you - to achieve depth.

That, and listen to Twoflower and Sander. They are old and wise and they know their geffex.

I hereby demand a FLI-logo from a certain gfx-man to stop him from believing that FLI is something coders can not handle ;). Hit me!!

For some coders, even koala is too demanding...
Paint Magic or just 4 color multicolor is the way to go!

as for the logo, I don't like the filling.. sometimes simple works better. it's like a graff style , so using like lines with a different colour to emphasyse the letters would be cool..

its supposed to say cygnusoz? or something?

there is a member of babygang/trisomic boys that was called cygnus, who did gfx.

I'm not an artist, but hopefully give you an idea anyway.

Ripping graphic for demos seem to be teh shit nowdays and I had too much sparetime and too low morale, so I did this:
