Music compos left this year
As the North Party v10 collapsed and is buried deep into the ground (until summer 2006, I hope), is there any music compo left this year in which I could participate without having to be present at a corresponding party? There seem to be 3 of them:
@ Willow Party
@ Primary Star
SID Compo 2005 (if it's held, of course - CreaMD?)
I've just mastered counting to three. Did I miss something?
Any of the active composers has plans to compete (and where)? |

Hope my life will be quite stable, when/if SID Compo 2005 will be held: I missed the previous edition, and I cried for that. It was...mmm.. a self-punishment, in order to pay the guilt of taking part in 2003 with a "suspicious" entry. ;)
Weird, btw: in the same period, I'd taken part in X-2004 SID compo (ranked in the middle of the charts, as usual). Uhmmm, can't remember why... |

Please remind me if I forget to announce anything shorthly before usual date* 8.october ;-) Compo should last 2 weeks as usual*.
*usually there are some exceptions ;-)
Another question is if I shouldn't organise some GT2 release supporting summer compo. Anyone with composing skills should be able to make tune in it, so it could have quite decent releases which could help other composers to learn how to make interesting sounds in GT2.
Summer Hit Cover Compo could be also fun? |

I will compete at Primary Star for sure, no cover this time, sorry Fanta, and c64.sk compo is always interesting to attend, especially if I can make another decadent piece.
I also like the idea to have a Goattracker 2 compo, maybe only .sng files should be allowed then. |

Summer Hit Cover as in those yearly songs that are pushed to popularity in May, stay on the radio for the whole summer and around September is pretty much forgotten?
Btw, while searching STIL, I just found that there is no known covers of Bob Dylan, nothing by Art Gartfunkel (only one by Paul Simon), Elvis Costello and so on. Maybe there are songs performed by those but written by others that I missed, but considering the otherwise rather wide spectrum of music covered on the C64, it is a little odd if a number of popular songwriters never were represented when there is so much Jarre, other 80-ties pop and also classical music.
Is there ever any compos which are based around only one or a few songs, to be covered and remixed (on the SID chip)? Would anyone find interest in something like that, or are covers just boring? :-) |

Genre, style or "era" specific cover compo could be interesting. |

SHC Compo?
Perfect, I was just forced to compose a stupid cover I hate, for someone that probably will never use it.
I'm ready for it. |

i'd like to have a daft punk remix/whatevercompo. they're doing perfect tunes that can be done on the sid. i already did a supershort short circuit remake/sequence, but that one's collecting dust on one of my disks since eons. |

Goat Tracker - GT2 Music Compo
Pre-rules: Starting on 1st of July ends on 10. July 2005. Use the latest version of Goat Tracker (GT2). Submit sid & .sng files as they will be used as demotunes in GT2 distribution. Compo & voting will be anonymous. Musics will be released (or at least counted online) as they come. Deadline might be extended but dont count on it.

Wow. You're sure quick, Roman ;). Besides, perhaps, extending deadline to July the 14th (give people some time to learn or re-learn the editor... hopefully there will be more competitors than just people already knowing GT quite well), everything's alright by me. |

Cool. 23 seconds until loop. That is also a kind of compo now after Stefano hosted a size-limited compo (128/256 bytes); to make the most music one can in 30 seconds or at most one minute. If it loops, it must loop from the beginning. :) |
