The physics may be partly fake but they still look so real, that's what matters. ;) It is a demo after all and demos are for watching.
I am still of the opinion that this one is a rough diamond that needs a bit of fine-cutting, especially concerning the transferring from one part to the next. That goes way too abrupt and bluntly. Hitmen for the world! Artphosis was/is just one hell of a demo! Can't believe what we saw at the X2012 democompo can ever be beat (well that's just the last demo I remember from the compo... no chance for voting as I was almost sleeping)..

When watching for the first time, I was really impressed and a little puzzled, the digivoice spoke out exactly my thoughts which made me lol a lot. Besides, I really dig the soundtrack in the rhythm of everything, too. For the falling blocks part I was watching lots of linear reads through memory progressing each frame that slowed down when blocks were not moving. So obviously it's an animation with some compression. ICU64 is an excellent tool.

Of course the way to show the physics and liquid is real time and not pre-calced is to have some user input going on. Something like moving the blocks around with the joystick and fire changing which one can be moved. Or the joystick moving the water pipe around with variable water flow rate.
