The SID itself is only half of the entry - check the link to YouTube for the full entry. I guess there is no lead voice in the SID because the actual lead voice was sung life during the compo by Hard&Soft Inc. =) So it wasn't "Karaoke" in the sense of someone singing to a text-prompt. It was a live singing performance. He somehow memorized the text. :)

this sounds a lot like it was converted from a midi track. also what theryk said: "there's no lead voice in the .SID" .. indeed, there isn't. I like the original song (and the band) but this SID song isn't very faithful to the original.

hmh, if you're not a super fan of this song, it's kinda tough to sing a long as there's no lead voice in the .SID and no text on screen

The winner of the compo was live karaoke performance of Manuel M. a.k.a. Hard & Soft Inc. This c64 executable was the part of the performance that was running on the big screen.

As far as I can judge, the positive thing about it was the fact that interpret was keeping up with the rythm and knew lyrics by heart, which (imo) is sometimes quite hard if you don't train enough in advance even with yout fave songs.

The actual singing aspect of the performance did have it's issues (not everything was perfectly in tune ;-) but what Manuel lacked in aspects of trained voice, he compensated in emotion and warm-heartedness. I couldn't leave this stunt unpunished so I gave him highest score possible in the compo and as it seems the rest of audience also appreciated the gig. ;-)
