Trivia Info
Submitted by Hammerfist on 27 December 2018
For those who like such trivia, here is some info about the picture:

I wanted to recreate a burial scene on a cemetery like I saw from a Marvel comic. This was before I discovered Stan Lee was actually cremated... For the background I referenced a photo made of Cavalry cemetery in New York, which showed a nice view of the skyline of the city in which Stan Lee himself, but also most of his Marvel heroes lived. It's mostly obscured by all the heroes though.

I really mixed up all the heroes, cherry-picking them from different periods.

Captain America was the first hero Stan Lee wrote for, The Destroyer is the one he first invented by himself (he has the blue face and the skull on his suit).

Then there are the characters from the Fantastic Four, the X-men and the Avengers which he dreamt up with Jack Kirby (Reed Richards, Sue Richards, Thing, Dr. Doom, Crystal, and Lockjaw from Fantastic Four, Professor Xavier, Jean, Cyclops, Beast and Angel from the original X-Men cast, Thor, Hulk, Scarlet Witch, and Ironman from the Avengers).

I added Groot and Rocket as part of the new Marvel Cinematic universe thinking he didn't create them, but Groot actually sprang from the minds of Stan, Jack and Larry Lieber.

Vision is part of the Avengers but wasn't technically invented by Stan. The original Vision was created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon and the new Vision - this android one - was created by Roy Thomas as a compromise because he wanted to bring back old Vision and Stan wanted an android :)

Ghost Rider and Spider-Gwen are the odd ones out, since Stan had nothing to do with their creation. But they were part of the Marvel universe and they were cool to draw.

For the real comic buffs out there, I also just chose costumes I liked, making Angel and Professor Xavier like they were in the original X-Men, Jean and Beast from a later period and I think Cyclops from yet another. Ironman is wearing one of the Cinematic Universe version suits, Thor an outfit from a Ragnarok poster with an added cape, but all the Fantastic Four characters, Scarlet Witch, Captain America, and Spiderman are from their original series.

All in all, quite the eclectic gathering, which I found most appropriate as a sign of respect to all parts of his career.
