The Douched Moose   (TDM)

TDM

Telephony on 15 October 1989

Dissolved in :
1 July 1994

United States

Trivia :
Founded as "The Douched Moose" with a single person (me); I created the 192-line $D016 wave used in my single-page demo "TRANSITION/TDM".

I came up with the name The Douched Moose because at that time I had a small plastic moose head with antlers that could be independently swivelled a full 360° in the Y-axis; with some configurations, it truly looked like a douched moose. ;-)

In many of my demos, I had coded into the scrollie, "IT'S LATE AND SOMEONE BUSTED THE COFFEEPOT". This simply meant that it was very late (most likely I was at the end of an all-night coding session) and I had to save the memory blocks and hang it up for th time being so that I could get some shuteye.

When another member joined in 1993, the name was changed to The Douche Crew; that name was based on the SOD song "Douche Crew" and I thought it as kinda funny at the time.

All releases (there are more, but I cannot remember every one):

1992: HMBC/TDM*
1992: PUSSYWHIPPED/TDM**
1992: TRANSITION/TDM***
1992: MAG FACTOR THREE/TDM****
1992: COM BOY/TDM
1992: URINALWRITER/TDM (interactive demo)
1992: ANTHRAX/TDM
1992: WAVERLOGO/TDM
1992: THUNDERFLUSH/TDM
1993: WARP DAMAGE/TDM

* HMBC is an abbreviation for "Heavy Metal Board Crasher". This was in reference to the music I listened to (like Anthrax, Raven, Metallica, Exciter, etc.) and dial-up bulletin board systems (BBSs, or "boards").

** The name PUSSYWHIPPED stemmed from an SOD song by the same name...no other dentro, demo, or megademo at the time had a vulgar name (that I was aware of anyway), so I thought I'd be the first. :-)

*** This dentro featured a 192-line $D016 wave that I coded; something that had not yet been accomplished.

**** This megademo that I wrote had color raster bars at normal size and magnified three times on the same screen (both of them "bouncing" and passing in and out of stationary rasterbars) -- also something that had not been done before.
