pal: no need to log off here :) i am not angry or anything... just wanted to point out that i have a little different point of view on some things.
i can take criticism. in this case i had to make my statement.
dont worry, its all good. thanks for your comment again | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 12 April 2013
I ment that your image is really great! I log off here, sorry for me posting... I saw all your work and your result is syperduper! | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 12 April 2013
pal: thanks for your comment. but i wonder why you say that this is a collage of different photos, and the szenery did not come from my imagination? it sounds as if you say i made a 1:1 conversion and was only retouching photos, which does not feel right, as i have spent alot of hours (i have spent 6 days and ~50 hours) to make this szenery perfectly be what i wanted it to be (manually).
i even made the water twice as you know and have seen in my previews, added the tree to the right, because that area seemed too empty and so on and so on...
you also have seen the previews how i have started to create the clouds...
there is the reference-check at vetos compopage, and especially here on csdb is the production note.
the boats are based on a photo which i have taken from a painting on my wall here at home, thats completely true.
when i have looked at that painting on my wall it inspired me, and i got the szenery in mind based on two boats because i have liked them. thats all.
the rest (besides the boats) in the lower half is quite different (ground, grass, water, little details (starfish, gull...)) and nothing in the upper half is based on any photo but completely created in p1 and an internal censor-pixelling tool... and you know it, because you had the previews. ah well, plz read the production note :) | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 12 April 2013
yazoo... your image is really good and it is a collage from different phothos and really well put together... it make me smile and it is such a great work... the only comments and as i told you when you were creating it is that the line things in the skies destroy the you and overal feeling in it in a way because it is ailianated in the way that the rest of the image has a texture and feel and then this line thing and also i think you should not have gone for the red under skies and purple over or such, should have added more there and more blue under the skies but man it is such a cool image, almost perfect... you are one of the best and humble me bow to your effort, but in the end it should have been a original and not taken from images even you did it different, i still can not understand that squares between the boats there... what is that.. is it a sinken boat? but really it can not be as there are no deapth in water for that... hmmm... The reflections got great and the trees are so much reminding me of a certain biker game from the past and that is so clever and nice, you know that these comments are on another level because we truly are among the best on the c64 scene and we can do that among us, i love your image!
PS: i think we as beholders of efforts and hard labour should all hold public votes on our accounts here on csdb so that we really show eachother respect and show what we feel, maybe this is the next step in scene developement? I vote 9 because i know you could have made it even better and i know it is not from your own imagination, but it is so altered and nice so it is yours... congrats and lets be open about votes in the future and vote on eachothers contributions in a fair way, the scene will love it and all populating the scene will make more for the scene in that way! | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 7 April 2013
Added the sid file as a separate download. Good luck in the compo, Yazoo! Amazing picture! :) | User Comment Submitted by Dr.j on 7 April 2013
What Shine wrote.. just perfect! nothing to add! | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 7 April 2013
The memory imprint of the scenario is almost scientific, nothing is left out of detail or chance.
The wind catches the small white birds which seem to sail in the infinite and the clouds pounder small clusters hiding the sun.
Waves choke against the borderline of sand and rock. This is poetry. | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 7 April 2013
Bitbreaker: i have added a production note | User Comment Submitted by Bitbreaker on 7 April 2013
Seems like you and sphinx hat a bit of a private boat contest here? :-) I like a lot the well done tiny details like the grass, the rock, the tree and so on. As for the nitpicking (what should be okay at that high level): Why do you need references for boats? :-) And the border between water and shore is a bit to straight and sharp for me, though no idea how to do it better :-) | User Comment Submitted by muh on 7 April 2013
Lovely picture, very well executed. | User Comment Submitted by Zeldin on 7 April 2013
Great pic with lovely motif, composition and fantastic coloring. Well done, Yazoo! | User Comment Submitted by Almighty God on 6 April 2013
I love the colours, 1st one for me... | User Comment Submitted by Shine on 6 April 2013 User Comment Submitted by Mactron on 6 April 2013
Wow, this looks like a view from my kitchen-window ;) Very realistic. Only the dithering-bubbles in the front (the hassock) let me vote 10 instead of 11.

Nice Technique ... good sense for color and style ... as i did seen it on facebook the first time, i just said "WOW Cool" ... my Favorite between 9-10. | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 6 April 2013
When I first saw it on Veto's page with black border, it was an immediate association - a picture from the wall ;) For me this is the best picture in the compo, hands down, not only technically but also due to chosen motif. | User Comment Submitted by Matt on 6 April 2013
what sphinx said; I wanna be there too! | User Comment Submitted by Bob on 6 April 2013
Like the "Holiday" feeling here awesome picture in every aspect..
dither tech, relaxing motive (somewhat different from the usual scene motive) which is very very welcome.
For me this is true Art! .. "A Flock of Seagulls" actually remind me a memory when being at the Brutal Hurricane Samsö party back in summer 1992, and we visited a nearby village by the sea to buy some beers. This view reminds me what we saw and looking out of the scenery a beer in our hands and we just stopped and looked.... sipped some buds ;) just like in a commersial..
Fantastic Yazoo.. you captured a beatifull moment for me.
I love this picture so much, I even have it on my phone as wallpaper :) | User Comment Submitted by apprentix on 6 April 2013
Excellent! I like your style. | User Comment Submitted by Sphinx on 6 April 2013
an awesome picture, together with the African Night picture, it is one of my personally favorites for me. it is so impressive and smooth, that i wanna be there, where ever it is, wanna sit down at the beach and listen to the seagulls, hehe. :-) for me, the motif is the next one for hanging it on my wall :-* and when i listen to this great, proper music... i think i am ready for holiday :-D | User Comment Submitted by Deev on 6 April 2013
Probably the best from Yazoo so far, really nice pixel technique and use of colours. I have several hundred similar gulls flying around outside the front of my apartment! :) | User Comment Submitted by leonofsgr on 6 April 2013
One of the best Yazoo.
more and more like your technique. | User Comment Submitted by Flea on 6 April 2013
Picturesque and colourful pixel ART. Broccoli alike trees on the right hand side and super-glued, slightly too low placed clouds (too much spare space in between them and upper border) could have been pixeled in a different way, but none the less very charming indeed. Almost a 10! | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 6 April 2013
nice pic! ... and the making-me-sea-sick-displayer again [probably I'm still too tired] =) | User Comment Submitted by Iapetus/Algarbi/Wood on 6 April 2013
Where are those who say the c64 has bad colours? ;) | User Comment Submitted by Chico on 6 April 2013 User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 6 April 2013
Jesus Christ! This looks amazing! Is this really MultiColor? Wowie! | User Comment Submitted by CONS on 5 April 2013
A true unity of colors and motif. Bravo. | User Comment Submitted by Danzig on 5 April 2013
Michael, sach ma, geht's noch? *IRRE* | User Comment Submitted by Sixx on 5 April 2013
So good it hurts. Definitely a picture i could put on my wall. 10/10. | User Comment Submitted by Slator on 5 April 2013
simply rocks, steven segal would be happy :-D | User Comment Submitted by grasstust on 5 April 2013
Yazoo, when you made that pic for the PIXMAS compo, you just blew the compition away. Not just because of your style, but also the cool motif. This pic is really well pixeled, but jeeezzz, it's such a boring motif... | User Comment Submitted by dEViLOCk on 5 April 2013
Excellent! Love the 3D-like depth of the pic due to the use of different dithering techniques! Genial. ^_^ | User Comment Submitted by Cruzer on 5 April 2013
Lovely and colorful! Great dithering too. And nice details with the fade-in and sb-scroller. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 5 April 2013
Yazoo is getting better by time like good wine. Nr1 from the compo. | User Comment Submitted by psych on 5 April 2013
