Fantastic tune, excellent technique! | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 6 April 2015
Still a looper par excellence and then some. Should have won. Love it! | User Comment Submitted by Tim on 11 November 2014
Oh man.. Randall your tunes always give me a headache.. do I vote 9 or 10.. went for a 9 this time BUT changed my 9 vote for Bored Teens, Expensive Shoes to a 10 because that I loved that one just a little bit more :) | User Comment Submitted by Joodas on 11 November 2014 User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 10 November 2014
Fuck Yeah Indeed!
This is like, right up my alley. Samples and sid blended like never before, and with such a great track to boot. You got my 5 stars ;) | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 4 November 2014 User Comment Submitted by Saphir on 1 November 2014 User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 31 October 2014
Yeah, it's so well mixed together, that I really don't mind it has samples in it and that's awesome! | User Comment Submitted by Stone on 31 October 2014
This is an awesome tune indeed. At the party, I couldn't tell what was samples and what was regular sid waveforms. I doubt if I'll ever use samples in my own tunes, but I salute all of you who keep pushing the boundaries. Also it was great seeing Randall jumping up and down in happiness like a crazy person for winning the 2nd place :) Futurama-happy, as Che put it. \o/ | User Comment Submitted by Stinsen on 31 October 2014
This sounded amazing on the PA. I remember thinking to myself that it really felt like being transported to a club dance floor instead of listening to a music competition on a 30 year old computer. And nice talking to you at the party! :) | User Comment Submitted by metalux on 29 October 2014 User Comment Submitted by booker on 29 October 2014
@psycho, I got something, will mail you later.
@jammer, that one looks najs
and now for Michal
Michal! Michal! Michallll! | User Comment Submitted by psych on 29 October 2014
If you have something for shitty Iphone, I would be more than happy to get it :) Application available some time ago in app store isn't available anymore. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 October 2014 User Comment Submitted by Conrad on 29 October 2014
Nice advertisements on what SID player to use guys! ;)
And now the tune... Michal, Michal, Michal, if I was a girl then... oh never mind! ;)
5 golden stars! | User Comment Submitted by booker on 29 October 2014
Oh, I've seen only one sidplayer on Google Play and it's an ancient emul limited to 6581 only without the filter, to make it more amusing :) | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 29 October 2014
Tried VLC instead of SID Player for Android, indeed works here. Thanks! :) | User Comment Submitted by booker on 29 October 2014
JB, what phone/OS/sidplayer app? | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 29 October 2014
sid made by Conrad confirmed working, binary exactly identical as mine ;) there's not much else to do with these kind of tunes, RSID and init set to $080d. Borked/old sid players don't support the digi routine and execution on CIA regs. And besides, a proper sid player should be able to run raw prgs, no need to rip as sid. | User Comment Submitted by Conrad on 29 October 2014
Reuploaded.
Honestly, I don't trust SID players on phones. ;) | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 29 October 2014
mmmh that .sid worked for me just fine.... are you sure its not your player that sucks? =P | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 October 2014
Conrad, sid file was working - I've played Randall's tune without problems. JB surely has older SidPlay or other player ;) | User Comment Submitted by Conrad on 29 October 2014
Ok, sorry. I'm at work and there's no fucking sound on the machine.
Ian Coog, where the fuck are you? | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 29 October 2014
Quoting Conrad@JB, added! (let me know if it works)
Nooo it doesn't :'(
Only a small poop in the beginning and then complete silence. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 29 October 2014
What everybody said. Incredible tune!
I would have been just as happy losing against you, dear Michal! 12/10 | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 29 October 2014
Quote:Samples here are one of the best prepared and utilized ever on C64. They blend perfectly with synth and sense of entire arrangement integrity is incredible
indeed. i wish i will come to that point some day myself :) | User Comment Submitted by Conrad on 29 October 2014
@JB, added! (let me know if it works) | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 29 October 2014
Quit arguing and make a .sid version so I could enjoy this shit on my phone. | User Comment Submitted by booker on 29 October 2014
C'mon, to prevent a mass conversions of amiga mods? I mean, wow, what a reason ;D Add Atari .mods to it too then :) | User Comment Submitted by OMP on 29 October 2014
Great piece, and might as well have won I guess :)
Great use of samples and i like the composition - even though personally, I still prefer regular 3 channel SID.
Nice meeting you :) and congrats! | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 October 2014
I believe that almost everyone in the bussiness knows what THCM is. And it's not as elite soft as it would seem. Everyone can ask THCM about the latest converter, he just doesn't release it officially to avoid mass attack of Amiga conversions ;) Some of the musicians love samples, some avoid, some truly despise ;) But I guess it's their weapon of choice and nothing to be really critical about :D People don't always vote for novelty, besides ;) | User Comment Submitted by booker on 29 October 2014
@Jammer, the problem I mentioned is a bit unfair advantage over those using SID only.
For instance people who might have no faintest idea what's going on (including some of our old music legends here), whereas the code is around 6 years old, and pretty much everyone involved in beta-teeing and by leaks knows it well. Therefore, those uninformed will over-vote such a tune eyeballing at the technology.
THCMs mod player is closed and for selected people only. This was already evident in 2008 when Fanta won his X with much better sounding samples than Randall's (imho, Michals samples are still quite dirty). But this isn't the only example, AFAIK GRG had been keeping his sample-SDI for quite long (if ever released) and I think he also won a compo with samples in "GRG in Cyberspace". It's different beast here because Glenn been also doing music editor/player coding, where Randall (as we both and Linus) is using someone else's code.
I'm not saying Randall's tune doesn't deserve to be adored! It pretty much does, I've gave it myself the only 2nd '5' in the compo (I've actually changed it from 4 to 5 after the compo, because I've added one point for the effort I know is required to compile .mod+GT tune).
I've been pleased though of the crowd's decision it should be pure synth tune to win. (cheers ppl). | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 October 2014
Bookah, sometimes I don't get your conclusions, m8 ;) Samples here are one of the best prepared and utilized ever on C64. They blend perfectly with synth and sense of entire arrangement integrity is incredible ;] It's not a sid + samples anymore. | User Comment Submitted by booker on 28 October 2014
While everyone (seems) to give you props for samples I actually have a problem with it :) Anyways, your piece was in the two I've gave 5 at the party. Do usłyszenia się ;) | User Comment Submitted by celticdesign on 27 October 2014 User Comment Submitted by Kristian on 27 October 2014
In my opinion this tune could just as well had won the compo. Excellent stuff. | User Comment Submitted by Jok on 27 October 2014
congrats. - very good tune! | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 27 October 2014
my favourite at the compo... very nice <3 | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 27 October 2014 User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 27 October 2014
Someone please make me a .sid version | User Comment Submitted by 6R6 on 27 October 2014
Don't know how you do these sounds. But it doesn't matter. I like it a lot. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 26 October 2014
Absolute technical masterpiece. Great mastering of sample part. | User Comment Submitted by psych on 26 October 2014
