For reasons I tried to compile this again some years later.

Yes, it worked out after some.. work. fixes. Bad words. C64 code rots quickly (will improve that).

And just to be clear - It's a demo!!!

As I wrote in my first comment these are all an ode to the box art used for iconic games by Atari and others for the 2600 console. There is nothing wired or converted by another tool here. Its all done by hand, for each pixel.

So these images are converts from book/cartridge covers? or original images?
Just curious.

Thanks. No, I was inspired by the artists themself, not by the book. I grew up with these images.

Very nicely done images and good presentation. I assume you were inspired by Tim Lapetino's book. If so, it would be worth mentioning.

Such a thoughtful approach to this on all fronts. I can't imagine the 64 representation of these painted covers (of which many are burned deep into our psyche) to be any more pleasing.

Lovely comments! :D Trasher prohibited me to call this a slideshow. Every time I did he got angry. :) "It's a demo!!!" he said, and you don't mess with an angry Trasher!

Now that the cat is out of the bag, seeing Sarge's reaction on Twitch when the bonuspart started playing was massive. Huge credz to Trasher for pushing that through even if there was such a rush to complete it in time ...

Very nice. Alot of nice pictures and good music too. It's more like a slideshow than a demo. The Atari-2600 was my first console ever and i still have two of these and i still like it alot also. That's why the topic fits very well for me.

This has been a project of love. Ever since I got my first video game console, the Atari 2600, I have marvelled at those fantastic box art. As a little child I used to sit and stare at the boxes of Asteroids, Break Out, Haunted House, Missile Command, etc for hours dreaming away.
All these has stuck with me since then in the late 70s, early 80s so I decide to do an ode to the art of the 2600 which probably has shaped me more than I can imagine.

Making all these images has pushed me to the limits. Especially since these artwork are more like collage that fades into each other with very thin pencil lines. I have learned a lot and it has hopefully made me a better pixel artist.

Thanks to Trasher for slaving away with the code and help from Firehawk/Hoaxers. Thanks also to Fegolhuzz for the awesome music. And finally to tNG for the lovely dirart!
