Nice release with a good message!
BTW: Last New Year's Eve, there were 5 deaths in Germany due to fireworks. In addition, around 8,000 people in Germany are injured by fireworks every New Year's Eve. On top, there are probably various (re-)traumatizations. These are just the direct consequences for humans. The environmental pollution, e.g. from dust, is also not to be underestimated. Around 1000% of the dust pollution in cities than on a normal day. Not particularly nice for people with chronic respiratory diseases.
Humans are of course not as cute and sweet as animals. ;) Nevertheless, it would be nice if people were a little more kind and careing. <3 |

You see, I was never that crazy about firecrackers, fireworks and such crap as a kid, but I did my share of fooling around with the stuff. Then, when I was 17, a war broke out in my country (not in the part where I lived) and the refugees started coming in. When I saw the impact those noises had on those people, I lost all appetite for making them. So, it could be I’m biased toward these people (not just pets) and against the “rights” of those other people to make senseless racket. In my intimate view, this is about common decency, but I wouldn’t dare expand that view to outside of my own personal circle. It’s not like “games and epilepsy” it’s more akin to cigarette smoking in public spaces. |

4gentE, why you're a dick? Because, for starters, I don't shoot at NYE for a decade or so. All I wanted to express is my sincere feeling there is a possible technical solution where pets might be happy and people enjoying fireworks too. But that's just complete unkindnness on my part, obviously. The dogs have been our pets for 25,000 years and we had fireworks for the last 2,000 years, somehow it has been an issue for like what, last 10 years? Care to explain that to me? Well, first of all, I know a lot of pet owners and for a lot of them this is not an issue at all, the pets are not bothered. And yes, there is some percentage when that is an issue, but to my experience in taking to those people, they are not interested in any solution requiring any effort on their part, just the outright ban on fireworks, that's it. It's idiotic to assume there is no middleground solution, and I refuse to accept that.
The most infuriating thing about people behaving like you is total empathy for animals and absolutely none for other people, no fucking interest why some people and their kids seem to enjoy that shit that you don't get and just don't fucking care about. It's obnoxious and priviliged. Do fucking better. |

4gentE, I tried to have a serious conversation. Unfortunately, the instant paternizing reply is exactly the way to hurt your cause and the reason you will not reach your goals. Insufferable virtue signalling and unfounded feeling of moral superiority that oozes from your comment makes you look like a dick, and sorry most people just don’t feel persuaded by people behaving like dicks.

Guys, let's not do this... both sides of this discussion have their merit. I agree that there should be a solution to help the animals, but I also agree it should not be just depriving other people of something they have a right to enjoy. I for the love of everything do not understand why we cannot develop pills or mechanical devices (plugs?) to give the animals some comfort during that time. There is definitely not enough effort there.
The answer should not be just banning the things. There are games/video that can induce seizures in people with epilepsy, somehow we are not just banning them but found a solution for the people to be warned, yes? |

Yes indeed, no mercy with pets!! Let them pay for that humans got themselves a dog for non-hunting-purposes! Its easy as that!!
just blow up all your fireworks and let them have a scary time! You are entitled to it, since you paid quite a lot for the fireworks ... sigh!
