Very nice preview! The front star sprites look a bit strange to me, although at least it shows how well you've handled multiplexing :) Good luck in completing the whole. | User Comment Submitted by Skate on 8 June 2008
Well done. I'll buy it too. | User Comment Submitted by der_ton on 8 June 2008
Great shootemup demo! I hope you can complete this project! Coding-wise it seems to be in good hands, that's for sure. :) I wasn't too impressed with the gfx but that doesn't mean anything at this point.
A gameplay suggestion: I like how those bonus containers bounce off the collision background, but once you shoot them, the bonus items they leave behind should do the same or else you can't collect them when they float into collision background.
As mentioned already, the weapon upgrade system can be alot of fun in this kind of game if the placement is done clever and not too unfair.
The endboss had a Rendering Ranger (SNES game by M.Trenz) kind of touch to it, because of all that zooming. :D | User Comment Submitted by cadaver on 8 June 2008
w00t! Killed the boss, the pattern wasn't too hard after all. On further thought the weapon progression seems weird, the blue laser mostly sucks and by the time I could have powered it up I probably have died and lost most of my other weapons :) And since I'm seemingly in a nagging mood, sometimes the stationary enemies lag behind scrolling which breaks the otherwise flawless display of technical prowess :( | User Comment Submitted by tasche on 7 June 2008
bang... this was the real shoot in the afternoon... (the 2 others were done just an hour ago :D) | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 7 June 2008
Nice job with the music fix iAN CooG :) | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 7 June 2008
@cadaver: dang, then there WAS a reason it was disabled, now I understand why :)
Edit: there was 1 single byte wrong on the music-restart routine, fixed, redownload the prg now | User Comment Submitted by cadaver on 7 June 2008
Sweet preview. The frontmost star-field is rather confusing though. Btw. the music-version seems to crash midway in the level (both on emu & real C64) | User Comment Submitted by FATFrost on 7 June 2008 User Comment Submitted by Cruzer on 7 June 2008
Impressive sprite handling, and top notch gfx, although some of the small sprites look a bit "cheap". I would prefer fewer, more detailed sprites. That could also help make the gameplay a bit less uberhard :)

I'd buy the original if it would run on an emu.
but apparently protovision only wants to support the real thing with a cartridge for protection.
so I'll play the crack instead. | User Comment Submitted by Akiragp on 7 June 2008 User Comment Submitted by Higgie on 7 June 2008
looks like a quite ambitious project. i like what we get so far except for the star-sprites flying from right to left. i find them really disturbing. IMHO they dec. playability and should be changed or left out. | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 7 June 2008
Hidden sid at $0c00, recovered. Nothing special btw | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 7 June 2008
gizmo/fr is making new gfx for it if i understood andre's comments right... and it will get exclusive tunes aswell. | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 7 June 2008
I just played this preview. This game preview is HOT! Well done to those who have produced it. We look forward to seeing the full game, that is if it gets finished ;) | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 7 June 2008
oswald, I was thinking the same thing. but considering this is just a preview, they will hopefully design new levels with new gfx. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 7 June 2008
I have mixed feelings. the coding seems to be a masterpiece, but the recycled gfx/sfx is a BIG letdown. new gfx, and new sounds please. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 7 June 2008
Quote:no matter how good the cracks might be
but...it will be uncrackable :o)

This is truly one of the best shooter-previews i've ever played, and I have played a few. This is a game I am going to buy, no matter how good the cracks might be. Nice Katakis / Denaris feeling in this one. |
