Basically a slideshow but when Crossbow, HCL and WEC get together you expect something good. I had to flip the disk with practically every part but when the turn disk pic looks so good, I don't mind at all. :p
I also loved the 'Shootout' and 'Living Dead' pics. And remember, it is not over until the fat lady sings ...cough... lands. ;)

what a beautiful demo it is... different and all nice... Lots of cool graphics designs and music and code... Gotta love that. The turn disk and monalisa are my favs in here...

Hm tough one. I like the individual parts alot but the presentation really isnt my cup of tea... Some sort of please-dont-watch me slideshow with top notch design/code. I thought people suddenly started to hate all press-space-bar demos and are all hype for trackmos. So what's that? I'd welcome change, however. So its a very clean, stylish prod but not that good for a demo (extremely non-objective impression).
Releasing old stuff in such a manner is awesome anyway! ;-)

It seems that whatever I do, I have to turn the disk for every single part... but that's about the only negative thing I can say about this production.

@MagerValp: The idea did cross my mind to have it so that once a part had been selected it cannot be selected again until the demo was re booted. Maybe the idea could have been taken further so that the demo automatically saved its progress, thus allowing the demo to continue where it left off. I think the demo works best the way it is :D

@MagerValp: WTF? single session? What do you expect? We're not tracking our users and saving stuff about their grandparents on 5'25 disk (i told you there's 0 blocks free). This is a demo, not facebook.

Yes, you have to find all parts during a single session.

You know when you have reached the end, because that part says "the end".. If you haven't see that, just keep on looking :).

If you have found some of the hidden features, then please post a "hidden parts" comment, noone seems to have found anything yet :D.

It feels great to read the positive feedback here on CSDb. We were never too sure how users would adapt to the interface without the aid of instructions. So far there have only been 2 reports of people struggling. I guess that’s a good sign.

@Steppe
I assumed the purpose of the High Voltage SID Collection was to gather every known SID. If Biotek released a Sid called Tic-Toc then it makes sense for it to be in HVSC. I for one am glad it was once a part of HVSC.

This tune was in HVSC before, but was removed when we actually bothered to listen for more than 10 seconds and decided it doesn't really qualify.

i really enjoyed this one. somehow the menu reminded me something between "ice cream castle" demo and "north and south" game menu screen. :) there are plenty of smart border effects etc. but this demo certainly is not about hardcore demo coding but the style we missed for many years. still, a coder pron demo from HCL+Crossbow team-up wouldn't hurt. ;)

@WEC, I guess I do bash myself too much over things like this. :) As most of us improve our skills year by year, I tend to start disliking some of my older work... but that's just me. Nevertheless, I'm glad you like the tune.

I think you are being too harsh on yourself. ‘Guitar Test’ sounds absolutely brilliant. You’ve managed to capture the sound guitar using .Sid, which is quite a rare thing. The tune was ideal to act as a mini interlude to work between other tunes, as if being played on the radio.

This is, by far, an excellent presentation/demo including really good coding, graphics, design and music all in one. I especially love the design of the Flip Disk part. I always liked that bird-signing/ambient tune from JCH and it took me by surprise that it would actually be used in something productive! Excellent!

Sadly though, I'm very disappointed with your choice of a tune I made... I was hoping that you would use a somewhat nicer/complete tune rather than a lame 2006 test tune that only last 7-8 seconds. :P Sorry WEC, I understand you put a huge lot of effort in organising this, but I cringed when that was playing during a calm menu screen after Syndrom's tune ended.

Other than that... excellent work! Love every bit of it! (Well, almost ;)) I would love to see more professional artwork and design like this in future.

Biotek did the audio that is playing during the white screen. I don't judge the musical skills behind it, but if he did it he should be credited. HVSC or not is another question.

The note just credits him but for what? The sidlist I added is complete, the only 2 sids not in HVSC are in the Trivia comment, there seems nothing else to justify his credit. Can you point me which is exactly his tune? or just mail it to hvsc@c64.org to save some time? thanks

@iAN CooG: Added credit to Biotek again. It's all in the note-part, make sure to find it (and read it).

I optimized away most of the player though, so you woun't find a normal .sid there, but it's exactly the same audio.

actually you have to press space to exit the intro and enter the bar (or fire in port 1) while the cursor is moved with joy in port 2.

It was exciting to load 0&1 onto my real c64, not knowing what to expect, and to discover the different parts. I was especially impressed with how the intro/menu/turn disk/loader was put together and I enjoy how subtle details have been designed, especially audio-wise.

there's some really nice graphics in there. perfect morning-surprise.

edit: btw, the title (zeros and ones) and the fact its in the "demo-category" + code by xbow'n hcl was letting me hope for more codepron. but as a well-coded graphics-collection its superb. it has a top-design.
