thx Marvin. yes, I watch my logo and I don't puke, which is a good sign. :) but it's still a logo, can't really compete against full screen petscii pix. | User Comment Submitted by Marvin on 22 October 2017
I think you did quite a good work with this. I actually toyed with the same idea but doubted that I'd be able to do anything good looking. That's a nice logo that would have been ok in ordinary bitmap MC. | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 20 October 2017
I am amazed by this! Hard to imagine such a simple world first still possible after 35 years. Now time for a mixed hires/multi masterpiece. | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 19 October 2017
35 years ago the first thing I did on a vic20 was a colorful USA flag on the screen, using asterisks as stars and reverse spaces for stripes. I'm sure others here did the same. the feeling was absolutely fantastic because for the 1st time you could paint something on a monitor! however there was no way you could change the background color without a poke.
what I'm trying to say? that true purists do use background $06 on c64, not $00! :) | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 19 October 2017
I've been frowned about a lot by purists for allowing $d021 other than 00, what might happen if I allowed MC in plain... impoopable ;)
honestly, it's great but imho no more feels/looks PETSCII at all, so that's what WiLD is for, at least this time | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 19 October 2017
hey ZeRyk: you organized this cool compo (thanks!) and you set the rules. however I believe ECM and multicolor petscii should be considered plain petscii.
now with ECM I think nobody really will be able to do a masterpiece, but this "new" mode is explorable: you have $d021/$d022/$d023 with 16 colors each and you could even mix multi and hires chars with colors $00-$07 vs. $08-$0f.
I hope someone with good skills will one day show something cool in MCPETSCII! | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 19 October 2017
hmh cool :)
plain?
Though I freely admit that you discovered a way I did not foresee, let alone explicitly mention in rules, my first reaction is: rather WiLD... | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 19 October 2017
yeah, a firsty. call guinness! :) | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 19 October 2017
Indeed! Really cool idea! | User Comment Submitted by ws on 19 October 2017

sorry for flooding CSDb with my poop attempts. This is a quickly multicolor petscii by me (still plain petscii I think, or?).
The question is: people with much more talent than me and perhaps a good editor could do something good in this format or since you get the limit of 8 colors and poor char choice that's really too much for everybody?
glad to know your opinions... |
