Really good parts in this demo. Great one. | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 17 November 2016
@copyfault. Thank you for the comments. Answers as below
SprMask vs Asslace
SprMask has the addition of unique d800 colors per 8x8 block. This gives an extra color per block.
Ghost Byte Mcol mode.
The mode in krestology used a static ghost byte. The Ghost byte mode here changes ghostbytes per line and alternates per field to remove flicker even further
DLSBCI
3 color bitmap + 3 color sprite + background color per field. The second field has exactly the same colors. This generates a maximum of 28 mix colors. (Some of these combinations flicker quite a bit. But amount of colors can be maximised based on careful choice of the base 7 colors. In the demo, there are 15 colors used.
Why same colors per field? To allow full pixel propogation (swapping pixel colors between frames) to reduce flicker. It also makes the mode fully unrestricted allowing any color to be placed at any position in the area. | User Comment Submitted by Copyfault on 17 November 2016
I am happy to see a new Demo from Algo as this always guarantees some new gfx modes ;)
So what's the real advantage of these modes over other ones that are already out there?
SprMask vs. Asslace -> guess it's the D8xx-interlace??
Ghost Byte MCol Mode -> looks quite similar to that mode in the last part of Krestology but now with the checkerboard overlay (not constant pixel columns as in xbows version)
DLSBCI -> what exactly is going on here? Is it two Mcol-Screens plus Sprite overlay interlaced? Assuming that the sprite cols are also interlaced, wouldn't that give at least 6*6=36 mixcols?
Hope you are planning to release some convertors or gfx tools for these modes some day...
Though for me the gfx theme of a demo doesn't need to shout "pron" all over it really does not bother either ;) The first turn disk part for example is really great for the three-dimensionality during the whole "turning process" alone. Wonder how it was done as I don't think there are that much pron movies around with constantly turning chicks ;))??
Thank you for this nice production! | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 16 November 2016
