Could be, but check out the Chosen One's profile, doing these types of releases was basically his entire existence. He put more effort into some of these fakes than a lot of groups put into real releases.

that would mean quite some effort wasted in renaming/inventing games just to claim some fame, pathetically lame

could(!) of course also be an import another South European bootleg/hack. Especially in Italy there was a bunch of renamed/hacked games.

There is no such game as "Malaria", this is Swamp Fever with an edited title screen.This is another Chosen One fake import of an older game, title screen changed so you wouldnt immediately recognize the name. This is a ripoff of someone else's crack and import.
