I know music is a matter of personal taste. But sometimes you got to wonder whats going. I have voted for all songs now, from 1-10 and my vote has my name on it. | User Comment Submitted by Dane on 26 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by groms on 26 November 2012
you who voted 3?!?! shame on you, hope you never get laid again....
you who made this tune?!?! kudos to you, hope you get laid again.... | User Comment Submitted by OMP on 26 November 2012
@psycho: Yes, I believe you're right Sir.
I myself have been a victim of such atrocity through my activity in Offence.
Offence are downvoted even more than Booze. I love the scene :D hee hee
| User Comment Submitted by psych on 26 November 2012
@Ole - this is called downvoting :) Quite common here at CSDb :) | User Comment Submitted by OMP on 26 November 2012
I do understand the concept of personal preference and taste - but to rate this as a THREE is just ignorance.
Even FIVE is borderline. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 23 November 2012
Very impressive, love the "almost House of the rising sun chord progressions" (tm). | User Comment Submitted by Sledge on 22 November 2012
It's for sure a highscore power ballad. Would fit perfect on games like Commando and such. You get the highscore, but the bitter taste of killing 300 people on the way needs a tune like this... good job! | User Comment Submitted by Xiny6581 on 20 November 2012
Awesome, however I get the feeling this would fit better as an in-game tune. Lots of work has been put into this lovely song, for sure :) | User Comment Submitted by NVitia on 17 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by Mace on 13 November 2012
Quality tune, but IMHO it has little to do with high-scores :-) | User Comment Submitted by Stinsen on 12 November 2012
Well-polished and flawlessly executed, but I personally like your uptempo stuff better. | User Comment Submitted by Achim on 12 November 2012
Great ballad, but I'm not sure if this is a highscore ballad: People would forget to enter their initials while listening to it! | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 11 November 2012
A great, typical Dane-style tune. A good "Power-Ballad". But concerning the compo theme I personally somehow miss the highscore-feeling about it. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 10 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by Dr.Science on 10 November 2012
Wow! This is great stuff! I like the variations and how the Music builds up! For me definitively in the TOP 3 of this compo, with big chances to win :-) | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 10 November 2012
Very different from all your recent work and because of that immensely interesting. Great one, dude ;) | User Comment Submitted by ccr on 10 November 2012
Very Daneish, and that's a good thing. :D | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 9 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 9 November 2012
Yup.. I'm also composing music for myself. And listen to it from time to time too ;-). It's like journal.. it brings memories... sometimes. Listening to this one again btw. I wanted to vote.. but then.. I think I shouldn't. | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 9 November 2012
...So Swedish...
Though I like Dane's compositions occasionally, this is like watching Flash Inc in slow motion.
But to be positive, the sounds is as usual excellent, the build up around a general lead and repetitive emotional basses and drums to convey the circular motion, which Dane masters. Canons, which are more of echoes of different instruments really, but tells a general story (yes it's felt as his tunes is sung always) just to come back where it all started. Now that is clever.
It's just good enough against personal likes or dislikes to get the tools from whatever you find in there. | User Comment Submitted by Didi on 9 November 2012
Very nice tune, but intro is too long for a highscore tune in my opinion. | User Comment Submitted by OMP on 9 November 2012
Cool! Yes, i agree. Bitter sweet. Kinda like finishing fallout 3...
And to me it's very much like a highscore piece indeed. Only longer and more variated.
Kinda cheating not doing a brand new tune though.
Of course, I'm doing the same thing... 😁
I've got more work until its finished though. Inspiring stuff! I'll try to be quick!
Edit: oh, and of course I agree about the liking ones own tunes.
I'm not TRYING to do music. I do it the way I like it...
I'm old enough to say that. 😊 | User Comment Submitted by Dane on 9 November 2012
Ole Marius - I finished it in August and have been saving it for an upcoming music disk, but your initiative made me want to showcase it a little bit earlier. :)
I don't know what expectations people have where "highscore ballads" are concerned, but for me personally this is one of the most bittersweet melodies I have ever churned out - a sad start with an upplifting chorus. And for me that's what you feel at the end of a game - exhiliration because of what you've accomplished mixed with a great sadness that the fun has come to an end.
Would it suit a game? I don't know. Is it a great tune? Well obviously this is the way I like them or else I wouldn't have made it. :) | User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 9 November 2012
heeey... I didn't know there is a compo around! If I get it right the entry should be powermetal high score ballad ;-))) | User Comment Submitted by Viktor on 9 November 2012
This should be the 3rd.
It has sad mood not hymnic or heroic, as a high score needs.
Beeing on a hi score means to be happy, becuase you are a hero of that game. :) | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 9 November 2012
Nice work. But not my cup of tea, too emotionally laden. Seeing the theme is "power ballad" i will save my funk for a c64.sk compo :-D | User Comment Submitted by OMP on 9 November 2012
Hey Dane, nice!
I think this is a great piece. Nice variations of that that theme. Lovely arpeggios and I love that melodic lead, man :)
Have to listen to it a few times.
Did you compose that during the summer, and finished it now, or was it totally done?
| User Comment Submitted by 6R6 on 9 November 2012
The competition is getting tougher. :) Great piece Stellan! | User Comment Submitted by G-Force on 9 November 2012
Top quality tune there nice one.(:-)
| User Comment Submitted by Total Chaos on 9 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by PAL on 8 November 2012
I will not vote on any of these yet as it is close race... I think as of right now kristians tune is more suthing to me.... but this one is so tight and all... and gfellow is abit behind but all that can change... I will listen to all that come and then vote... it is so cool that you music artists take that challenge and stir this place up abit... we need more of these stuffs... the scene is all loving it!
Now ole must soon deliver too... and drax and flex and more.... | User Comment Submitted by BrandonWalsh on 8 November 2012
Best from Dane in a while, but you already knew that I would say that. It puts the water in the melon. <3 | User Comment Submitted by G-Fellow on 8 November 2012
This is definitive a high-score power ballad!!! I love this tune also. :) Really amazing Dane! So much emotions in this tune, made with love.
Can we please do every year a High-Score Power Ballade Compo? (Looking to Ole Marius and Kristian Røstøen)
I did not vote yet for none of the tunes in the High-Score Power Ballad Compo, I wait till all did submit the tunes. | User Comment Submitted by Mr. SID on 8 November 2012
Awesome, finally I can listen to the whole piece. Cutting things short on soundcloud is very cruel! :) | User Comment Submitted by Frost on 8 November 2012
House of the Rising Sun meets Edge of Disgrace.
Sums it up pretty good if you ask me. :) | User Comment Submitted by Dane on 8 November 2012
I made it this summer. Glad you like it, it took a while to exorcise that theme and get it out of my system. :) | User Comment Submitted by Kristian on 8 November 2012
Wow, that was quickly put together. Something you had lying around? Awesome stuff. Love all the variation in it while still sticking to a red line. | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 8 November 2012
Sounds good! Best part is from 1:42! | User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 8 November 2012 User Comment Submitted by psych on 8 November 2012
I hate you mate ;)
