The encoder seems to preserve gradients better (Using the other VQ methods, they would clearly show more visible blocks) As an example, I have also now uploaded a comparison image that contains the original frame and the encoded. Notice the gradients and smooth sections seem to look near identical

Smoothness! Would prefer a few fewer frames if it could be traded for less blockyness though.
