WOW what an image... it is really cool and all... the only thing I really miss is that it should be more simularities in the face of rambo... but overall one hell of an image!

Deekay, why do everybody think that only way how to do a Rambo Revisited pic it is to make it better. I hoped that some talented crazy gfxians will get it and make it different. (Imagine Rambo made by Ptoing.. Mermaid.. or Rambo made by Ragnarok, or Mirage;-)) (and even if you wanted to make it look "better" there are still some sweet advanced modes made by Roland)

a final comment on the compo, I would personally like to see a dark and moody version in style of Dave Thorpes Speccy loader, like that crossed with Bobs pic maybe. Also one of the hires maestros on here could do a fantastic job translating the speccy loader to 2011 with c64 colours. the trick to hires if you "get it" is ofc knowing what to leave out rather than put in just like the top spectrum artists.

Nobody should throw anything away, i speak from experience as I too have thrown one of these away before in 1986, which was the first time i edited Steve Wahids's Rambo pic to add more shading depth. shortly after getting a koalapad. I threw that away because "it wasn't mine" and regret it now in my less idealistic and more pragmatic years :)
This one also is ofc not totally "mine". if you overlay the original you will find many outlines which match, simply because thats how this pic started life. The main logo is patterned on the style in which Andrew Sleigh did the rambo 3 text (tho drawn by me at 2/3 size). the manner in which its displayed is the same as Dave Thorpe's speccy loader, and the ocean logo is off an Andrew Sleigh loader because it matched the size i wanted. tho again its edited to conform to my colour ram usage, in the same way i do with the Psytronik logo.

Wow, this is spooky! I actually recently started doing my own C64 update of the Rambo C64 loading screen just for a chuckle (I've always been a bit jealous of the Speccy loading screen) but then this awesome piece of work from Steve appeared!! There was no way I could match this so I was ready to chuck my bitmap away - but now I might finish it off for the Rambo comp. Great minds and all that, eh, Steve? :)

Splenid work! Glad you released it. Even better than BOB's version (which was my personal favourite).

Really like your take on the loader-screen STE - Sly finally looks like a real person instead of a flat carbon copy. ;) If only it had looked like that back in the 80's. :) Nice job!

there is now a v2 upload available with some facial changes in the light of comments, and indeed the light of day with a fresh look at the artwork. a few muscle changes in the neck area too. this will be the last update as there is just too much interlocking dithering on the face to keep messing with it. the choice is now yours :)

What Wile said, the head looks a little tiny/disproportionate, but on the other hand, Stallone (looked and) looks not very human, esp after his recent superfluous surgeries.
Thumbs up anyway.

Wile Coyote. I want to make a compo around the original pic. Anything that is inspired or taking from it, goes. (I can imagine this can be made in various styles.. ;-) If there is at least one person who will say yes. I will launch it at c64.sk immediately.
