I just added “merge old handles” code to my C64GFXDb thing and, so, found “Lars”. And this pic. Stunning work, Lars/Mirage! Absolutely love this. I want to see more of these old/new pics to be honest! | User Comment Submitted by JackAsser on 1 November 2020
Totally forgot this picture. It's still so damn awesome!!! | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 8 October 2012
Ain't that a shocker! Truly splendid work. | User Comment Submitted by DeeKay on 5 December 2011

Every now and then Lars likes to remind us that the rest of us are just hacks. Call me a masochist but I live for these moments. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 24 November 2011
Whiners. :D And yes. I do know that Jobs were more of a hustler than a hacker. | User Comment Submitted by Killsquad on 24 November 2011
Wow. This is just incredible! Fantastic job(s) :) | User Comment Submitted by HCL on 24 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 22 November 2011
"I see the young hacker-Jobs, the true underdog, working his ass off (almost for free) in a garage with Woz solely for their ideas and creativity. And he is happy."
You must be kidding. Jobs couldnt hack shit, he was best at ripping off people, starting with his best friend Woz (who was the true hacker, and ass off worker) | User Comment Submitted by Brush on 21 November 2011
So much have been said already. It reminds me the Apple's esthethics: minimalistic yet so full of good things. Great work!

cool way to say "good bye" to mr. jobs. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 20 November 2011
The pic is even better when I looked at it for a while.
I see the young hacker-Jobs, the true underdog, working his ass off (almost for free) in a garage with Woz solely for their ideas and creativity. And he is happy.
And then the old Jobs, grumpy but successful, becoming what he once fighted, the center of a megalomaniac company with slaves in China working their ass off for him for almost nothing. And he is grumpy.
The underdog became the topdog. A warning to us all - remember your past. :P
But of course that is only my view of it. | User Comment Submitted by G-Fellow on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Cresh on 20 November 2011
@JackAsser
Rounded corners you say?

When I saw that it's hires I couldn't believe it. big 10! | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 20 November 2011
Awesome, that must've been Jobs himself inspiring Lars from the heavens ;) | User Comment Submitted by JackAsser on 20 November 2011
Awesome beyond belief! 10/10 of course. However...
I see $d020-colorbugs on new vic-chips in the lower border + I personally would have chosen rounded black corners in the borders for that extra Mac-feeling. :) | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by andym00 on 20 November 2011
Simply wow =O An amazing bit of pixel pushing :) | User Comment Submitted by aNdy on 20 November 2011

This is SOOO awesome!!
I have no idea why the previous screenshot was originally blurred. Lars, I hope you don't mind me replacing it with a proper, hires one :) | User Comment Submitted by AüMTRöN on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Conjuror on 20 November 2011
Just amazing, some people are just so talented! | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 20 November 2011
Really great Lars!
It's fantastic to see the pushed boundaries of such limitations.
Hugs from Sweden. | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 20 November 2011
Haha WOW!
Had to check twice as well to be sure that this is in fact plain hires (within borders).
Awesome! Cudos for the non-color-clashes-are-hip-in-hires-approach ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Sixx on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Kristian on 20 November 2011
Not too fond of the already mentioned ear, but the rest is just amazing. | User Comment Submitted by Soren on 20 November 2011
Perfection! I love it! :-) | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Wile Coyote on 20 November 2011
Great use of hires and border sprites.
My eye was instantly drawn towards the ear.
It gives the impression the perspective has been altered, flattened to create an abnormality, a deformation.

I had to check memory to believe this is plain hires. | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by The Shadow on 20 November 2011
The legendary Mirage/Censor Design from the old days. Excellent work! | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 20 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by Twoflower on 20 November 2011
Yes. This is pure awesomeness. The glasses, f.ex. | User Comment Submitted by v3to on 19 November 2011
great one lars. the right half looks almost perfect to me, left half shows some awesome details (the beard, the eyeglass <3). always nice to see a photorealistic motive in that mode. | User Comment Submitted by TWW on 19 November 2011 User Comment Submitted by DRAX on 19 November 2011
For some reason the left part of the picture looks like Lars von Trier to me :) ... Excellent by the way ;) | User Comment Submitted by Mirage on 19 November 2011
Sorry, should have explained... The screen is plain hires. The only sprites used are in the upper and lower border.
And yes, his ear looks weird, couldn't be bothered fixing that. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 19 November 2011
Pure hires!? Really awesome! Steve's right ear looks funny though. | User Comment Submitted by Mr. SID on 19 November 2011
Wait, hold on. Pure Hires? You must be joking. Oh, wow! |
