Good demo. I really liked the part feat:
The small dark grey CML logo with the raster split pattern FX moving around above.

Diagonal raster bars and hires 16 color plasma ruled!! The whole demo is great too...I prefer the first one, but this is so good to see.

Despite being quater screen, this has the coolest plasma ever. (and inspired me to write the one used in the hvsc collection hidden part - hence the music and colour set ripped from here :-p. but that's a pale, pale imitation)

despite its simpleness (codewise) the tilted rasters are fucking spectacular, and so well executed it would be hard to top it. Another highlight is the last plasma part.

Brilliant music from Drax!
(this demo isn't just for coders...)

Nice one. The only demo at Breakpoint I don't mind losing to...

There's nothing wrong with having a good and well-designed presentation. I could care less about if it's the classic press-space demo or a trackmo, but themes, fades, design and appearance are not unnecessary things. They're not essential, but makes a demo better. With that said, this demo is good due to its kickass effects, but could be better. ;)

I guess this is a demo mainly for coders, and coders don't necessarily need design, they see the beauty of the routines no matter what the appearance is. ;)

Actually Cruzer's principles in coding demos impress me. Scrapping unnecessary brush-ups like thinking up a theme, doing some trackmo linking and fades in order to go for coding and releasing as many pure effects as possible. Really takes some balls to do that.

I actually think this one's better than the first, also design-wise.

It was finished in a hurry, so I guess it could have been a bit more well designed and maybe even less boring if we had had the time. We're prolly gonna use some more time on these things for the next one, although I don't really care much about it.

And thanx for bringing it to bp04, Fanta! Looking forward to the prize, although I bet you're gonna steal it. ;)

all in all a cool retro camel-production! i only wonder who submitted the demo to the bp04 competition, can´t remember any camels at the party. ;) jailbird, hope my shorty didn´t bore you too much while watching the last part for half an hour. :)

This demo is cool. It has some nice effects. Who cares if you gotta press space? Not every fukkin demo has to be a trackmo

I've read the note. As Blackdroid said it's not bitching, it's just calm and decent opinion. I don't have anything against releasing of old routines and parts and I'm really happy to read cool scroller by other Camelot member etc. etc. And music in the bars part was great. I wish I could hear this one in some full-blown trackmo. And... It's really great to have Camel guys back in the scene.. even if it was for a short while.. It's great.

[vic] im not bitching ( hence the lack of "oh why dont they do it like this" ), I just stated my 0.02e

Might be VIC, but the first YKTR did succeed more in design. A bit more pollished, that's why the expectations for this one were the same. Anyway, the effects ruled again.

Please read the note for a description of the YKTR concept before bitching about lack of consistency and irqloaders... The idea about Cruzers YKTR series is not to do design demos, but to get back to oldskool with some kickass coding... YKTR is all about code (hence: "THE ROUTINE"), not eyecandy...

Edit: the main reason for it not being more consistent was, that it was a last minute (ok, week;) decision to release it at Breakpoint, and Cruzer (understandably) felt more like optimizing the code than spending hours of work incorporating the proposed designschemes...

I must agree with Blackdroid. It has some really awesome musics and interesting effects and tricks. Only negative is that it's served splitted into parts. I wouldn't say it's boring, but it lacks consistecy. Otherwise it's a really cool demo.

Especially that plasma is really great! I think I haven't a 16 color highres plasma on C64 before (I can't think how is it possible now, since there are color clashes on C64). Wow!

What an amazing bunch of magical code! I must take my hat off. I especially liked the diagonal rasterbars and the fabulous 16 color plasma. In these late (or early?) hours (4:25am here), I was watching the plasma part for more than half an hour. This demo rocks butts!
