What a wild routine that flipping 2x2 sprite scroller was for 1989. First it had to y-scale the gfx of 7 letters in realtime, and [spoiler alert] since the scaler is done with immediate opcodes for the gfx, the speedcode has to be updated each time a new letter appears. On top of that there must be time left for multiplexing, playing music and losing cycles to sprite DMA. Some of the other parts are great too, especially the double floffy. I hadn't seen this demo before Mixer fixed it, so thanx a lot for that!

A scroller demo more advanced than usual, because it also displays some cool effects. I don't understand that while you all linked it nicely together, you didn't bother with the drive routine. My 1541-II would hate you.

Really cool!! Thx Mixer... Must look this on real machine, winvice with 4* 2500mhz i5 intel are not fast enough to show it in 1/1 refresh...

Great job, Mixer! I can only admire the spirit of getting back to something this old and make it proper (finally).

Nice that the demo now is linked proberbly. However I have something to criticize: The drive motor isn't turned off when it's not loading. This causes annoying drive sounds during the parts and also reduces lifetime of real disks.

Check the other Upfront, Dominators, Trilogy 1989 party entries. Awesome stuff! Including the mythical Upfront demo that none has seen since.

OMG, it had to be so much ahead others in '89! Today's hottest VIC routines are merely iterations of it, just with better art ;)
