Oh yeah, I think I usually use slides maybe even too much.. I think the filtersweep for the lead (that I hardly ever use) probably "fooled" me a little this time.. :-) Nevertheless, thank you for your comment. I know what you mean with those details (and that's one thing I still need to develop myself) - let's take your Touching Cloth.sid as an example. . oh what a great tune it is!!!

Flex: Ho was this tune I meant - I probably know the original too well, so for me it needs those slides. :)
Ofcourse it's a matter of taste, but I do in general like a good combination of details to add something extra to melodies. :)

Soren, you miss some slides for _this_ tune or in general for a Flex-tune like we used to..? :-)

Very lovely tune. I am currently listening to it while having breakfast. Great! I would like to hear more of those tunes + a touch of oldskool.

Looking forward to some new compositions from you - I love your melodic stuff ;) ... Talking about covering I consider doing covers of my xm-modules :D ...

Yeah should have. Well it's mentioned in the demo where it was originally released. Mentioned in the sidplay and Geir himself was one of the first himself to know about this so let's not begin... and by now we all should know. Hope we could talk more about the tune itself. I think it's one of the greatest compositions ever and needed a sid-version. Didn't know GRG had done it in 99 but more the merrier now we have 2 sid-versions to enjoy. Peace, love & happiness guys! :)

Lovely! I agree with Drax though, you should have credited Geir on screen.

Should, should not...let's not get too serious about the "composer" status :D
Reinterpret someone else's work for SID is mostly what is done on csdb. Some more or less ofcourse ;D

Anyway great tune!

I think there should have been a note in the screen saying: "Originally composed by Geir Tjelta"

Covers shouldn't be part of a compo unless it is a cover compo :D

Covers not allowed in compo is okay rule. Covers should always have a separate compo, because half of the creative work is done when you do a cover. You literally translate/reinterpret someone else's work for SID. Great thing about covers is that you can make MUCH better tune from a crappy song. For example Herr Tie's Love Song is much much better than original ;-))) (in terms of suppresion of subtlety of the original hardcore hit ;-)

First off, now this is an excellent cover! I love it.
For me I discovered many songs on the C-64 that I did not know was a cover. I have a hand full of well done covers that later in life I found out were covers of famous songs :P
But yes, it's hard to remake a song and get all the specific details from the original. Only a very few composers can do it.
Keep up the good work Flex :)

I think I understand what you mean. I myself am a little past that "covers are a no go" area.
Aren't we all making covers in a way? Using elements of existing music or gettig highly inspired by the music we embracedin our youth. Just saying...
No comparing a xm mod with a sid anyway
You still have to make it shine on sid and with leaving your your own signature to it I think it's all fine. As long you put some love and effort in it ;)

Dane comes to mind. He did some great covers. Some unforgettable tunes and he was scoring very high in compos as well.
We didn't care then, why would we in 2015? :D
Gloria is a nice example. It's one of my favorites by Stellan but think it wouldn't be quit the same without the intro. Now would it? :D

Flex, yep. Cover tunes were not allowed in the compo (although it was observed that one slipped in there anyway). However this is a great piece! +++

removed credit to GT, it's only a cover of his amiga tune, he didn't compose anything in this sid.

I didn't see it appropriate participating with a cover, like in general.. not sure if there was even such a rule but anyway.
