Trivia :
The story of Artline started on 10/11/1989 as a legal subgroup of world famous Contex . Founding members being Flex and Apollyon, soon followed by Scorpion and Judge - all members of Contex. The purpose was to make graphics and music commercially. Back then it was a fashion to add "Designs" into the name and use real names. So Artline Designs was born.

Scorpion coded a solid assembler music-routine which was mainly used by Flex (Antti Hannula) for his tunes. The first released tunes Frazze and Feelin'Blue were published in Contex's last demo Handjob Lotion . Many graphics by ALD were used in Contex demos and by many others, before the musics started to appear. When Contex stopped on 15/05/1990, there was sadly not much activity left except Flex doing music. Soon after his computer was moved into the closet too..

Music-Pack was released in August 1990 and the next music-collection The Return of ALD in April 1992. Nothing happened since that, until a short show-up by Flex in 1999 with The Theme at Assembly 1999 and SID Collection '99 . Then again an absence of 10 years followed but after this the spark hit the light.

In 2009 Flex activated in making music again (after finding Goattracker), as did his brother Juzdie who had already shown interest in making SID music earlier with In Your Dreams . Flex's brothers Jangler & Juzdie had been more or less active earlier in the PC scene and eventually they heard the sweet call of the legendary C64 and have been a natural part of ALD ever since the beginning (but officially after 2009). They had the honour being the unofficial Contex/Artline mascots in the late 80's/early 90's. :-)

Later a trip to X'2012 was arranged and this activated guys like Apollyon and Scorpion into the scene again. (ed. never missed an X party since.) Flex also managed to talk the legendary Yip of Pure-Byte to join the trip and 2 years later at X'2014 he joined ALD too.

In February 2013 we got together in Helsinki and our old friend Zardax joined the crew and started composing again.

Next episode was when guys from Siesta ( Adder , Aomeba and Jojeli ) joined in the beginning of 2019 followed by Abaddon of Triad. The demo-section got stronger and in the end we finally managed to deliver a winning demo Out of Contex at Zoo 2019 . Also our old friend, an 80's scener and a hardware-guru Rolex joined the crew in the beginning of 2019.

In early 2020 ilesj of Triad (finally) joined his countrymen at ALD and a scener from the early 90's, Flotsam had activated again and he joined the crew too. Flotsam kept on going full speed for a year and was a real driving force in 2020. After that hectic year he wanted to continue on his own and left ALD but is still a natural part of Artline daily routines.
Fresh C64-blood was injected into Artline veins when graphics master ibux joined in late 2020.

In June 2021 it was time to make a major "political decision" and say goodbye to Adder in order to make it 100% Finnish. The aftermath was the supertalents Mutetus and jab joining the crew.

After keeping it steady for some time, a local graphics-talent Worrior1 joined the crew on 23.11.2023.

To make it clear, for us it's all about having fun with great guys and personalities & providing some C64 goodies every now and then. Love and nostalgy & love for nostalgy.
