@Jammer. No it’s using the regular THCmod MLC1 preset with 2 sid channels and 3rd channel for the samples (at least I guess that’s regular). Maybe I missed something from your comment, but I suspected you meant something like using a lowpass filter with rather high cutoff would filter out the ”crap” in the high frequencies? Nevertheless, the SID-bass uses a quickly decreasing cutoff values on the sid filter that create a ”snap” effect to the beginning of the sound; extending that filter to the 3rd SID channel (samples) would’ve obviously made the sample section unusable. Some might say that at least the snap would be unnecessary, but that was something I did not want to compromise on the sound. Then again, the bass needs also a steadily decreasing amplitude, which is easy on SID and would also be on MOD, but when also the chord samples need some volume control it needs to be done with some compromises on either of those sounds with the MLC1 preset. You know it’s all about compromises with the sound quality, arrangement, how many elements, and size (probably forgot to mention some); the exact things that make creating music with THCmod so intriguing! :)

@Juzdie: hold on... Do I guess right it's not regular THCMOD engine and you're using two separate SID channels for digis? Otherwise you'd filter all samples alltogether.

..and to add to my previous comment (since i cannot edit the comment ;P )
I would like a mix without the vocal. It did not need the vocal. No hard feelings..

When the track ends, i think to myself, what a shame it had to end.
Any chance of an extended mix? ^_^

delicious, especially when it starts to introduce those jazzy changes. i understand not being able to use the lowpass after i realized that the bass relies on it and the cap is probably set too low to be of any anti-aliasing use. great job, following you, i'm a fan.

Thanks guys for nice feedback, and Jammer (and Mibri) for a technical tip. The arrangement of this track is probably more complex than it might sound (some of it might been avoided with a bit more planning), and filter is actually pretty much constantly in use; the bass sound has it when lead doesn’t, and when lead has it, the bass is a sample 馃檪

What Jammer said, but yeah, this tune is wonderfully stylish - I love the chord changes in particular!

Lead ontop of samples make the whole impression better and keps the gritty part less obvious,
which THCM-tunes usually suffer from (or any samples in that case: The high pitched freq. or quality.) I do think it helps with this.

<3 I'd only try to filter sample part a little more to smoothen aliasing as lead sawtooth is unfiltered.
