Following yours and other players' feedback, the game has been heavily updated to reflect the suggestions we received, along with all the other improvements we had in pipeline already.
As I said before, we are not releasing a second preview as we are shooting straight for the final release. For those who want to take a look at what the game looks like now, here is a teaser for you:

Thanks again for your support.

@mankeli thanks for your feedback.
Well, some of the things you are asking are already available in the current build. The physics department has been heavily updated and the speed (which is different from every planet) has been increased because I had had the same feedback of the gameplay being a bit too slow coming from different testers. Now you too, so it had to be done :-)
Im not sure about non resetting the aim. Tried that, but feels unnatural and not really what would happen in real golf. Or even other golf games, for that matter. I think it also encourages frantic shooting which i want to prevent (golf is a game for thinkers, after all :-)).
The music: there's a lot more in the current build, and i'm sure players won't get annoyed if they decide to switch fron speech yo music.
Finally, the multiplayer. That would be really nice to have, but I'm struggling to think of a way to implement it in the current setup, without the screen being to claustrophobic. Gave a try to split screen with scrolling, but it just doesnt work well. Current version even has open borders to increase the play area. Of course I'm not taking into account network play: just not a big fan of things that were not in fashion in the 80s.
In general, the game looks and plays much differently from the this build now. There are more planets, differenti intro, differenti selection screen and even the hyped cinematica intro is coming to place.
Very early preview here:

We decided to skip the second preview that we had planned and go straight for the release, hopefully, next spring.
Thanks

- Aiming is annoying because the angle resets every turn
- Ball should move a bit faster (1.5x or so max) in the normal case, ff feature is ok but should also work while aiming. (up should be atleast nonfunctional)
- otherwise awesome! addicting, and samples make me feel like i'm playing some old macintosh game :)
- realtime multiplayer mode would be fun, two players trying to speed through the course :-D
- in-game music is ok but doesn't really fit. I'd enjoy more if the music would be more laidback.

Holy cow! What a refreshingly new game concept (for the C64 that is). Totally awesome execution including cuteness. I'd say it would deserve a better logo / proper title screen n stuff, apart from that a straight 11/10.

Thanks for the feedback!
@cadaver: yes, the digis are there to taunt the player, and I should add more (I hope no one got offended!). Also, "miles and miles and miles" is a quote from Alan Shepard, Astronaut of the Apollo 14 mission, who really played golf on the Moon (and, as a matter of fact, inspired this game).
@Groepaz: I have the border open in the current build of the game. I just disabled that for the preview, because I had some glitches in the bottom panel that I was too lazy to fix before the preview, so I just switched the border back on :-P. But that should go away in the final version.

Nice game! The "ball goes out of screen" samples are classic oldschool mocking of the player, which is rare in nowadays games.

Awesome, and what Groepaz said about the border. It's a "free" enhancement.

really nice, great details, very playable!

just one thing: perhaps open the upper/lower border, it would make things a bit more predictable when in the upper area of the screen

Very promising preview! You don't often see real sub-pixel physics on C64, at least not yet ;)

I thought I would submit a preview version of this game to find the motivation to finish it :-P

Please use a recent nightly build of Vice for the sound to work properly.
Real HW is even better, of Course :-)

Thanks for your comments!
