Clever tool, unfortunately I had type in the URL in Firefox on my PC, my S4 Mini plastered its virtual keyboard over the entry boxes for handle and email. (I know, I have a lame phone). | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 13 April 2018
What an effort LFT! It clearly helps to see all the entries at one go. The QR is genius. | User Comment Submitted by Shadow on 12 April 2018
Awesome voting tool, nice touch with the QR-code generation for easy C64->Internet connectivity! :)
Felt a bit bad about self-voting 9 according to the instructions, especially since i used the full range of ratings for the other entries (ie. not the standard CSDb "10 is great, 9 is OK, everything below is crap"-system! :) | User Comment Submitted by Zirias on 11 April 2018
@Lft that's cool, I was just asking out of curiosity! Even with all that drama, I get the impression that the vast majority of people here value "fair" votes very much, so I don't expect any abuse. So, again, congrats on that cool idea. Bringing together the "mobile" world with the ancient C64 is absolutely worth an upvote to the strange "CSDB-mean" :) Great work! | User Comment Submitted by Mr.Ammo on 11 April 2018
I have a few suggestions:
1) The data on the generated list after posting the URL has a different order than the order in the application. It's sorted in descending order based on the results. Therefore it takes quite while to verify if all votes are correct before submitting them. I would have preferred that the generated list has the same order as the app.
2) after submission create some code voters can use to retrieve their submitted votes after submission for viewing only.
3) have the application save the votes to disk and the ability to load or view them again.
4) Consider anonymous voting so more people will vote. It also makes life for everyone much more beautiful.
If I knew upfront you wanted to collect my handle and e-mail address, I would have refrained from voting. I did submit my votes. However, I did not enter my (own) handle (or anyone else's) and used some bogus e-mail address to stay anonymous. Not sure if I'm still anonymous after this confession :) | User Comment Submitted by lft on 11 April 2018
Zirias: There's no technical authentication behind the scenes, so it
is trust-based (just like voting on paper at a party). If I spot something weird, I could always investigate, try to get in contact with people and verify their identity. But I don't think that will be necessary.
I had an idea that the URL would take you to the CSDb page for previewing a PM addressed to me, with all the data already filled in. But that only works if the user is already logged in at CSDb, on the same device that was used to scan the QR code. | User Comment Submitted by Steppe on 10 April 2018
So amazing. Wish I could vote like that in every compo. :-) | User Comment Submitted by Zirias on 10 April 2018
This is a GREAT idea and I'll give it a run very soon. Still one question: Is there anything preventing multiple votes from the same person? Not that I'd ever do something like that, just asking out of curiosity ;) | User Comment Submitted by DKT on 10 April 2018
Haha, this is o'som. Clever idea to 'connect' C64 with Internet by QR code transfer!
Voting drama no more \o/ | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 10 April 2018
@Scan: I just typed in the URL :-) | User Comment Submitted by BokanoiD on 10 April 2018
Shame I can't vote for the voting system. | User Comment Submitted by ws on 10 April 2018
most flawless voting system ever! | User Comment Submitted by Style on 10 April 2018
ummm, best actual use of QR Ive ever seen??? | User Comment Submitted by Scan on 10 April 2018
Very nice voting tool! Unfortunately I don't have anything "smart" that can scan a QR code, but got around that by downloading some software that could decode a QR code from a screenshot. | User Comment Submitted by Bubis on 10 April 2018
Using QR codes is a very smart idea! Well done! | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 10 April 2018
Very cool voting system! Thanks. | User Comment Submitted by Compyx on 9 April 2018
So, basically you have to guess what the votes would be with or without your vote and then decide whether to vote for yourself.
Obviously not voting a 9 due to broken ... stuff. But probably a 4.
Edit: 4 didn't help, I downvoted myself. | User Comment Submitted by lft on 9 April 2018
Manual self-voting is recommended. No automatic points are given. | User Comment Submitted by Luca on 9 April 2018
Does it mean that selfvoting is recommended and in any case 9 is assigned to your own entry? |
