What a demo, loved seeing and hearing this at x2018. What a treat. You can see how well things can work when a team comes together. Great graphics, code and music.

@Prowler: Thanks! And yes, I agree, it's a shame we couldn't get some Mermaid work on this :-( ... maybe we would've had a chance to beat Vader at X then...

Amazing code, graphics & music with a clear and consistent concept. Love it, 10/10! I just think that some of Mermaids pirate-graphics would have fitted great into this demo as well :-)

I'm a sucker for themed demos, and everyone in his right mind must love pirates. Outstanding graphics and design, fitting music and also the code doesn't have to duck away. Straight 10 from me. I'll take a shovel with me if I make it to X someday.

Thanks everyone!

The team really came together for this demo. We'd just finished Delirious 11 for Gubbdata and had the mad idea that we'd do something for X... I wasn't sure we'd manage it, there were just 3 months to go, but I reckon we did pretty well considering :-)

And the competition at X was, as we expected, tough. Bonzai pulling out a fantastic demo, Censor, Performers, the Drinking Buddies, Atlantis, Hoaxers, Fossil, Tempest ... wow.

It's nice to be back in the scene with all these amazing productions still being created on this ancient machine :-)

I'll be quiet a while now ... but hopefully not for another 27 years ;-)

BRøst: We will most certainly have trophies at the next Gubbdata. I have talked to a certain Smeden aus Schweden about that.

Hedning: I liked your concept a lot, and yes, I do Treasure meeting you all. I should be careful what I wish for I guess, cos last time I drove home from Lund with my car full of that infamous Gubbdata prize, I threw it in the nearest container. A container by the name Archmage :) Hilarious objects, ..but gold it was not.

On a serious note, I think you guys are on a winning streak here. That scroller with the itsy-bitsy letters is supercute. Keep´em coming!

By the way, has anyone found the hidden treasure at the X? ^^

BRøst: Thank you! I thought it was obvious that X marks the spot. The treasure is the C64 scene itself, X if you will - and what it produces. But hey. We might have some extra booty for you at Gubbdata. ;)

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am that you guys now are able to back up that tremendous wellspring of sonic and graphical prowess with serious coding talent.
And then take us all out on an exhilerating pirate bounty hunt. Thank you sincerely for that!

Playing dim-witted for a moment, I am not at all sure that I agree with your definition of the term treasure, though.
You see, on the map there is clearly marked an X next to Someren. But what does a treasure located in Someren entail exactly? A true pirate does not set out over the stormy seas and put himself through such perils just to have a good time. Where is the treasure, I say?
Are you telling me that a barn full of sweaty middle-aged drooling drunken nerds with fungal infected toenails, podagra and progressively protruding beer bellies amounts to a treasure?

Maybe your next demo could show us what a real treasure looks like. Give us all them flashy pixels you so lavishly sprinkle about, concentrated into a single point of splendour. Show us what hides beneath the lid of that bulging coffer. Unparalleled beauty. Stunning riches. Treasure by Genesis Project.
I am so looking forward to Gubbdata already :)

And remember, don´t go swimming near that desert island. There´s an abomination lurking around underneath the waves. That scary looking great white shark is sporting a dolphins tail fin.

Love this pirate demo, packed with visual and aural goodness. Especially the circle scroller on the light picture. I think the prettiest visual of the compo.

That demo!! artistic masterpiece.. any of the art from that demo could hang in the world renowned museums... and it would have a huge crowd being amazed by the sheer art it self... and THEN blown away when they know it is on a C64 with all its limitations.

The demo is so wonderful,
The atmosphere the story. It's a gorgeous demo guys. be proud of this since this is amazing and an instant classic!

Raistlin all respect dude for your work! such effort in short time .. amazing! and the rest of the coders of -GP- you guys need to backup Raistlin! you have the perfect engine in the team that could ignite the inspiration for the group to a whole new level but he needs your support! --> GP is on fire! Can't wait to see what will happen next time, because you guys/girls have just marked the X!! GP on the Demo Map as a top contender! 4:the place at X... I congratulate GP for that and the efforts made... Raistlin you are sent from the above! and Cheers for the whole GP...... join us ;)

Quite a surprise! At some parts I pitied the poor gfxians a little, so much excellent work and then it was shown only for such a short moment. Overall, top demo , congrats on #4 @X! This would have won at many, many other events with not so uber-tough competitors.
