The game can crash at other locations too, like exiting a room after the "buffer overflow" has reached on AR. Standing in front of the dragon was just an example and simplest way to reproduce it. The fact stands that the original does not crash therefor this cant be a 101%. (99% since ori works on AR too)

Well, nice digging. You may never recognize this flaw unless you are looking for a bug, because it takes at least 20 seconds staying in dragon's deadly range (and reducing energy without trainer) to get the crash with AR. Someone sane would have already recognized that you cannot fight the dragon like the other creatures in the meantime and tried something else.
I removed the "broken" tag because the crash does not appear on vanilla c64 without extensions and it does not appear when playing normal way without digging for bugs.
Maybe this version may profit from an additional bugfix to make it 100% foolproof for extension users.

The "buffer overflow" is not present on vanilla C64 or with AR, but it does happen on this release with AR. You can try it by loading the original, > 0a61 ad for trainer and stand in the dragon breath/fire.
